Like most Disney fanatics, I have my list of classic, must do things I like to do every time I visit a Disney park. After that though, I love to find new things to try that I have never experienced before. Some “hidden gems” if you will.
I discovered a wonderful hidden gem when I visited Disney California Adventure park. I had no idea that you could go on a free tour of a working bakery!
The Disney website describes it as a “Tasty tour of a real bakery” where you can “See how the world-famous San Fransokyo sourdough bread is made.” It’s a working replica of the Boudin bakery, which is located in San Fransisco. It’s located in the San Fransokyo Square area of the park. It’s self guided, which means you can spend all the time you want reading the signs and watching the bakers work. You get to see the bread go from ingredients to a fully baked loaf! They even have a lovely cast member ready to give you a sample of the sourdough bread to munch on as you go through! I can verify that it was very fresh and tasty!
I learned a lot about the art of bread making and enjoyed seeing the bakers working on some loaves shaped like our favorite mice, Mickey and Minnie! As you exit, make sure you check out the display of the other shapes they can make, too!
If you find yourself or your group needing a break from all of the hustle and bustle, this is a great option. It can also be a wonderful spot to get out of the heat of the day or a rainstorm the might pop up. Its open hours are from from 8am to 6pm most days, but be to check your app for the most current times.
