Last week, we had the amazing opportunity to do a media sailing on Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure. The Treasure is the sister ship to the Disney Wish, which debuted a couple of years ago. We have been on the Wish a few times, so I expected the Treasure to be a very similar experience. Yes, the set up is the same, but there are so many differences that to me, are even better than the Wish. Let’s talk about it!
When you walk onto the Disney Treasure, it’s very welcoming and inviting. The color scheme is beautiful, shades of teal and blue. Aladdin is the theme for the atrium area, so you’ll see a statue of Aladdin and Jasmine on their magic carpet. This area is a wonderful spot for photos. To me, the Wish is a bit more fancy, due to the Cinderella theme, I honestly love both.
Once we got on board we were eager to see all the new spaces. The various entertainment spots have quite a few nods to the theme parks. As theme park enthusiasts, this is a huge selling feature. The place that I was most looking forward to is by far the Haunted Mansion Parlor. This spot is where the Hyperspace Lounge is on the Wish, but so much better. It’s like being in an extension of the actual Haunted Mansion at the Parks. You’ll see Hitchhiking Ghosts, Madame Leota, Grim Grinning Ghosts and more. I did a complete write up about this area which I will link at the bottom. It gets an 11 out of 10, absolutely fantastic. The Skipper Society is a lounge that is themed for the Jungle Cruise, which includes specialty drinks and live entertainment at night. The Periscope Pub is themed for the classic Disney Attraction, 20,ooo Leagues Under the Sea. Periscope Pub serves food (for an extra cost) and also has various beers and cocktails. The attention to detail on all of these locations is so well done and quite impressive. Other spaces include the Skat Cat Lounge themed for the Aristocats and Sarabi that’s Lion King themed. They also do shows and trivia in that location.
Dining on the Treasure gives cruise goers plenty of options to choose from. Marceline Market is a buffet that’s great for breakfast especially, but they also serve lunch and dinner. You can get walk up food like burgers, tacos and pizza that are on the same deck as the pool, it’s super convenient. We can’t forget the ice cream cone spot either. For more desserts, check out Jumbeaux’s Sweets that has gelato, cookies, brownies, chocolate covered strawberries and more. The sit down restaurants are 1923, Worlds of Marvel and Plaza de Coco. Being that this is a 7 day cruise, you’ll do the rotation twice with a different menu each time. Plaza de Coco is brand new to Disney Cruise Line and features shows during your dinner, the music is great!
The state rooms are beautiful and spacious, with accommodations for various size groups of travelers. There are also glamourous suites on board the Treasure which have to be seen to be believed. They’re nothing like what you’d normally see on a cruise ship. Staircases, large bedrooms and closets, spacious sitting areas and bathrooms that are a dream come true. It’s fun to dream!
As for shows, brand new to the Cruise Line, is Moana. This production tells the tale of Moana with fantastic singing and effects that are truly breathtaking. The Beauty and the Beast show is visually spectacular and a favorite of ours. You can also see Disney Seas the Adventure. At night, there’s a lot of fun trivia and a comedy show that will certainly entertain you. During the day there are movies playing on the pool deck as well. The adults only area is in the back of the ship with a bar and infinity pool. Speaking of the deck, the Disney Treasure had Pirate Night with a show and fireworks.
If shopping is your thing, then you are in luck! The shops on the Treasure are fun with a variety of Treasure themed merch and more. You can also find souvenirs themed for the Haunted Mansion Parlor and more. On a higher end, the ship has stores that feature jewelry, expensive purses, perfume and other luxuries. There’s something for every budget. Of course you’ll find spirit jerseys and mouse ears!
This is only a quick summary of everything that the new Disney Treasure has to offer, I’ve only scratched the surface. I have been on most of the Disney Cruise Line ships, and I believe that the Treasure is my new favorite. Granted, I love them all, but the Treasure has a certain feeling of relaxation and comfort with the top notch hospitality that Disney always delivers. I cannot say enough good things about this experience, and I hope to get to go again soon!
