It’s the holiday season and here in Central Florida, there is so much to do and see. It’s almost overwhelming, so we have to pick and choose what would be the most exciting! Aside from the festivities at Disney, a close runner up is the Christmas fun at Universal Orlando Resort. I have grown to love Universal Orlando and the various activities they hold throughout the year. Currently, Grinchmas is the talk of the town and I went over to check it out. Let’s discuss, shall we?

First things first, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a favorite of mine, both the Jim Carrey movie and the classic cartoon. The movie in particular is always one that we watch a few times over the Christmas season. Sadly, I can understand where the Grinch was coming from, with the holidays being a bit much at times, but I digress. Anyway, Grinchmas was something I definitely wanted to see this year.

When you get to Seuss Landing at Islands of Adventure, you’re greeted with two animated trees at the opening and a lot of Christmas lights! Beautiful! There’s a Grinchmas sign of course too. This is where the fun begins.

The entire area is filled with lights and decorations, which is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. As you walk through Seuss Landing, watch for some Who’s from Whoville wandering around. They interact with guests and stop for photos. If you want to see more characters and the Grinch himself, you must check out the show that runs throughout the day. Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular!

The show is in the building behind the scenes where the Blueman Group used to perform. It’s a decent sized venue. As you walk in there are Christmas decorations everywhere, then you’ll be escorted to your seat. The stage looks just like Whoville, it’s impressive. The show itself is so well done. You’ll recognize characters and such from the movie, plus familiar songs. The Grinch is a hoot, just like you’d expect… Max is there too, he’s adorable! The show tells a shorter version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and lasts about a half hour. It’s was so good, I may or may not have shed a tear or two,  I’m such a sap during the holidays. There will be a line back there and they don’t start seating until showtime. We got there about 20 minutes early and it was fine, it’s definitely worth seeing! I’ll post videos and the end of this article!

In addition to the amazing musical production, guests can actually have a meet and greet with the Grinch! His spot is located on the other side of Seuss Landing, just before you exit to a new land. It is important, however, to take note that the Grinch line is very long so be prepared. Part of the reason is that he spends time with each group, it’s a top notch experience for sure!

If you’re looking for some Grinch merchandise, Universal has plenty! There are items for the entire family, plus ornaments and a popcorn bucket & sipper!

All in all, I truly enjoyed this entire area of the park, Grinchmas is fantastic! You could spend a bit of time there, there’s food offerings and Grinch & Max cookies too! Yes, there are many areas at the Universal Orlando Resort to celebrate the season, but make sure you visit Seuss Landing. You’ll be so happy that you did!
