Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party – Honest Review! The past few days have been all about the holidays at Walt Disney World. We started on Friday with checking out the Christmas Tree Stroll at Disney Springs, which began that day. So pretty. Then on Saturday we covered opening night of Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios (review link below). Monday evening we had the media night at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Lets talk about the Christmas party all that it has to offer this year.
The party kicks off with guests going through the path on the right side behind Main Street, where you get a map and a party ornament. The ornament is really cute, it’s already on my tree at home! It’s a great gift! There were also stilt walkers greeting and taking a photos with party goers.
Once inside, we checked the map for show times and started to make a plan of what we wanted to do and see. Merchandise is always my first stop, to see what’s new for the year. They had cute shirts and accessories specially for the Christmas party.
At Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, there is a lot to do and only so much time to do it. A must do “list” helps. For me, the fireworks and parade are top priority! Not to mention, various spots around the park offer free cookies and drinks. There are characters different locations as well, but be prepared to stand in line for them. The character interaction that I had with Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Scrooge was amazing. By the time we got out of there, I heard that the line was a 95 minute wait. Super cute photos though!
You can see and interact with other characters at the dance parties as well. In Tomorrowland, there’s a great party, also at Cosmic Rays.
Speaking of characters, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is a must see. The parade is a favorite, but as a creature of habit, something different was noticeable immediately. Disney changed up the parade music. The soundtrack to the Christmas parade is iconic, just like the Boo to You Parade and its score. Can you imagine if that ever changed? That’s a little bit of how the new Christmas parade music made me feel. Others in our group felt the same. It’s not bad, just different. There were other subtle changes in the parade floats and such as well, but all in all, it’s still beautiful. The “snow” on Main Street is pure magic.
Another part of the evening that I highly recommend are the holiday fireworks. Hosted by Minnie Mouse, this show brings all of the nostalgia that comes with the Christmas season. It’s beautiful, I may have shed a tear or two.
I almost forgot to mention this year’s special popcorn bucket for the Christmas party. It’s a Mickey elf and it’s adorable!
All in all, I did enjoy the party this year. I love the holidays at Walt Disney World. However, I did most certainly notice that the crowds were huge for this event. Seemingly more so than previous years. One thing that’s usually a selling point for these separate ticket parties, is the low crowds. More exclusivity for your money. This year however, the party felt over sold, it was more crowded than I expected. Higher crowds meant that wait times for various things was much higher than I recall. That being said, I recommend that you prioritize what you want to do, so you don’t miss out on anything that you are looking forward to.
If you are on the fence between going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights, here are a few things to consider. Jollywood Nights is more of an adult feel. Dressing up and hitting the town, with a Disney twist. It’s much less crowded as well. MVMCP is crowded and more for families rather than a girls night out or a date. There are endearing qualities of both. I personally love both, but I think Jollywood Nights has more bang for your buck. Whichever you prefer, it’s all engulfed in the magic of the season. You truly can’t go wrong! Happy Holidays Everyone!
