Five Rehabilitated Manatees Transported to Florida for Final Steps Before Return to Home Waters
SeaWorld Orlando, alongside its partners in the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership, has been at the forefront of rescuing and rehabilitating five orphaned manatees, now on the final leg of their journey back to Florida’s waters. These manatees, including two transferred from the Columbus Zoo to SeaWorld’s critical care facility, have benefited from years of dedicated care, allowing them to reach healthy weights and independence. Dr. Joseph Gaspard, Vice President of Zoological Operations at SeaWorld Orlando, emphasizes the importance of collaboration across facilities, which helps maintain available space to treat more manatees in need. Transported with specialized care and support from DHL Express, these resilient manatees represent the progress of continued conservation efforts, ensuring that SeaWorld Orlando and its partners remain committed to safeguarding this iconic Florida species for generations to come. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, ZooTampa at Lowry Park, and SeaWorld Orlando have partnered for several years to rehabilitate these five orphans.

Sleepovers at SeaWorld Orlando have returned starting Fall 2024
You and your group are invited to experience an exciting night of exploration, discovery, wonder, and education on a SeaWorld Orlando sleepover. Led by our team of animal experts, your group will dive right into adventure as they tour SeaWorld’s animal habitats after hours. Students will spend their evening (and following morning) experiencing immersive animal habitats that showcase animals from around the world, participating in interactive activities that reinforce key learning objects, and speaking directly with an Animal Care Specialist to learn more about how we care for our animals.
