We are seeing Wish at all the Parks with food tie-ins, specialty drinks, and a Valentino Popcorn Bucket, and at Epcot Wish is the newest Spaceship Earth Icon show with the song ‘I’m a Star’ playing every evening.
One of the coolest pieces of merch is the newest sipper in the shape of the character Wishing Star. The Wish Star Sipper is available at Creation Shop and at first glance, it looks like a great price. $13.50 is actually a decent price for a souvenir at Disney World, plus it ties in with Wish. Best of both worlds.
Here is the issue, and this is something that bothers the heck out of us here. Before we saw the signage that listed the details of the sale of the newest sipper, we asked a Cast member how much it was. “$13.50 for the sipper… but, you have to buy the drink first then you can add on the sipper to the drink purchase for a total of $18.99 each”. Now the Cast member is doing their job perfectly and described it exactly how it was being sold.

Wait, I can’t just buy the sipper? I mean when popcorn buckets are sold, I don’t have to buy the popcorn and add on the bucket, I just buy the bucket and the popcorn comes in or with it. Read that sentence again, it seems like it is the same thing, but it is not.
Looking at the signage, in the big letters is $13.50 with the smaller print saying ‘added to any non-alcoholic drink for an additional $13.50.’; and yes I realize this is not an issue to die on the hill of Mount Disney, but seriously this grinds my gears. Just say the sipper is $18.99 and comes with a choice of non-alcoholic drink.
This marketing tactic is a bait-and-switch, which is so below Disney. Advertise the lowest prices, and lure the customer in, then hit them with the real price. We all know when Mom or Dad take little Braylieghlean-Tiggerlileigh Junior to the counter and she wants Wishing Star, Mom and Dad think it is $13.50, then find out it costs 5 bucks more, ain’t no way they will say no and upset the child!
I know this is a silly thing, but it is something that has been going on a lot more recently when seeing prices. This is not just a Disney thing, but it is all over. We just hold Disney to a higher standard.
We are seeing images of it being sold elsewhere around the parks for $16.99 and that is without the “added onto any drink purchase”. So depending on what side of the park you are on, the difference is $2.00. Not much, but come on. It now pays to check each location selling these collectibles.
This is not the first time we have seen this happen. We have reports of others buying the Donald Duck Christmas Tree Sipper and only being allowed to purchase this after buying a drink, but again, only in certain sales locations located around the Parks. Some people are saying they paid one price and the drink was given to them in a separate cup, while others have to buy a bottled beverage. Which takes the price up from $15.50 to over $21.00. Again, a small difference in the real world starts adding up. Have you seen this happening around the Parks more and more? In full disclosure, we did still buy one!

Disney’s Newest Animated Movie ‘WISH’ Asha Meet and Greet and Merchandise at Disney World. Princess Asha ( I may be using the word princess a little too soon, we don’t know if she is or not) from Disney’s WISH, and the merchandise from the movie has arrived at Walt Disney World.
Asha is meeting guests daily at Epcot in World Showcase starting at 9:00 AM until around 4:00 PM. Asha is an optimistic dreamer and leader-in-the-making. She cares about the people of Rosas and is proud to live in the Kingdom of Wishes.
At the age of 17, Asha is an ordinary resident of the Kingdom of Rosas, lacking any apparent royal lineage. However, a significant twist lies in her journey as Asha undergoes training under the King himself, as revealed in the Wish trailer. Notably, Asha possesses the same extraordinary powers as the King, suggesting that her mentorship may serve not only magical purposes but also the deliberate preparation for her potential succession as the kingdom’s ruler. The trailer does not hint at the King or Queen having any offspring, leaving room for speculation that Asha could emerge as the next royal leader.
In “Wish,” Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Featuring the voices of Academy Award®-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino, the film is helmed by Oscar®-winning director Chris Buck (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Juan Pablo Reyes (“Encanto”). Jennifer Lee (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) executive produces—Lee and Allison Moore (“Night Sky,” “Manhunt”) are writers on the project. With original songs by Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, plus a score by composer Dave Metzger.
