As you may have heard, the World of Frozen is opening its gates on Nov. 20, 2023 at Hong Kong Disneyland! And when the world’s first “Frozen”-themed land opens, you’ll be able to step into Arendelle with beloved characters, enchanting music, cutting-edge technology and more.
Today, we’re looking ahead and sharing six reasons why you’ll want to visit World of Frozen!
1. Step into a Real Life Arendelle
Only at World of Frozen can you step into the home of Queen Anna and Queen Elsa from their quaint village to the nearby forest. Here you will be fully immersed in scenes right out of the Walt Disney Animation Studios films “Frozen” and “Frozen 2”! The fishing boat that Anna fell onto when meeting Prince Hans? YES, that’s here! And the Clock Tower they danced on later that evening? It’s here too! You will even be able to experience Elsa’s magical powers all around, including at Friendship Fountain where she has frozen its water into beautiful snowflake ornamentations.
2. Instantly Immerse into Nordic Culture
Do you wanna build a Norwegian-style land in Hong Kong? No glacier was left unturned when developing the land’s scenery, stunning architecture, design, clothing and cuisine, as inspiration was found in Norway’s historical background and culture. From the dragestil (dragon style) architectural style to Balestrand’s asymmetrical architecture and even rosemaling floral decorative paintings, you will immediately be transported from Hong Kong’s skyscraper-filled skyline to the Scandinavian-inspired Arendelle.
3. A One-Of-A-Kind Experience
Where Hong Kong meets Arendelle, Lantau Island’s stunning natural landscape has been seamlessly incorporated into the land’s design. By creating a smooth transition of the Lantau mountains in the distance into the design of the North Mountain, not only will this add to the immersive nature of the land, but it also provides a one-of-a-kind experience only found at Hong Kong Disneyland.
4. The Perfect Soundtrack for Your Journey
When “Frozen” comes to mind, you can’t help but think of its iconic earworm songs like “For the First Time in Forever” and “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman.” The team has been hard at work with award-winning composer, Andrew Cottee, rearranging many of the movie’s iconic songs and creating a cinematic experience within the land — the kind we promise you won’t be asking to “Let It Go” anytime soon.
5. There’s Ice that Never Melts
Ice became the life of Disney Imagineers for nearly three years, as they meticulously recreated Elsa’s Ice Magic found around World of Frozen. The team analyzed ice textures and colors, and how these related to Elsa’s emotions in order to accurately depict her magical powers. Every form of ice and snow you could think of, and the various materials to recreate the kind that won’t melt, were studied for her Ice Palace and icy decorations. The skills they learned may be just enough to join Kristoff, Arendelle’s official Ice Master, in the ice harvesting business!
6. Highly Advanced Audio-Animatronics Figures
For the first time in forever at Hong Kong Disneyland, the attraction, Frozen Ever After, will feature Walt Disney Imagineering’s advanced, all-electric Audio-Animatronics® figures. This technology will bring to life characters like Anna, Elsa and Kristoff in an all-new way! Imagineers really did test the limits and breakthroughs in order to create the seamless movements you will see at the attraction.
Now, who’s ready to join us for a Summer Snow Day at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland? Hands down, this will be the best day of our lives when they finally open up the gates!
