Audiences were spellbound when the trailer for Disney’s new film, “The Little Mermaid,” revealed a first look at Halle Bailey’s portrayal of Ariel. Heartwarming videos went viral of Black and Brown children reacting to seeing an iconic Disney Princess who looked like them.
McKenzie, Madison and Carter Lanier along with Mckenzie and Riley Fleming were five of those children who captivated the world with their joy and excitement. After seeing their viral video reactions to the original trailer of the film, Disney Parks and The Walt Disney Studios made dreams come true. Both families were invited to Disneyland Resort to have a fun-filled vacation in the parks – or so the little ones thought!
While receiving a makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, these little ones were surprised by a pre-recorded video just for them from Halle Bailey herself! But the surprise didn’t stop there … with a little Disney magic, Halle stepped around the corner to greet them in person! After some hugs and special words of wisdom, Halle then invited the Lanier and Fleming families to join her on the “blue carpet” for the World Premiere of “The Little Mermaid”!
See how the special moment unfolded from their original reactions to the trailer to being surprised by Halle in person!

“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
