Yes–we promise you read this headline correctly. Allegedly, what is being claimed to be “Iron Man” star Robert Downey Jr.’s used chewing gum has appeared in a listing on eBay.
As shared by Comicbook, the listing surfaced this week and its seller claims it was the gum that was chewed during the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony for “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau. Reportedly, at the ceremony, which took place last month, Downey took a piece of chewing gum out of his mouth and stuck it on Favreau’s brand-new star.
At the time of the writing of this post, the gum, which may or may not actually belong to the action film star, is at a starting bid of C $55,000.00, which comes to US $40,353.67.
“Hello! I happened to be in the area during the event which had famous actor and producer Jon Favreau being added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” the listing reads. “During the event, Robert Downey Jr himself put his gum on the Star and presumably left it there, which I was able to snag. I’m selling it in the same condition I got it in and it can be tested for his DNA.”
The item is in auction until Friday at 4:05 a.m. We’d like to point out that there are currently no bids for this item and the auction also offers a “Best Offer” option for purchase as well.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of odd items making their way onto the online retail site. Following the closing of Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World, we saw the listing of what was alleged to be water from the now closed attraction for sale. Similar to this listing, the water was also listed at an outstanding price point.
