Disney legend Alice Estes Davis, wife of the legendary Marc Davis and has passed away at the age of 93. The news was shared from Christopher Merritt (Veteran Art Director, Show Designer and Author) posted on his LinkedIn page.
Davis was hired along with her husband, Marc as he was being said as the one of the Disney leaders in animation that physically knew Walt himself.
In 1963, Walt Disney came to Alice Davis with an assignment to assist artist Mary Blair in designing the costumes for the Audio-Animatronic (AA) children of Disney’s 1964/1965 New York World’s Fair attraction “it’s a small world”. She researched the different cultures and regions being represented and translated the attire customs into over 150 different costumes. Her other work for the Fair included the period-specific costumes for the General Electric Carousel of Progress.
She became a Disney Legend in 2004 at the Disney D23 Expo. Alice David leaves behind such a legacy with Disney and fans everywhere. She will sadly be missed.
