“Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn defended Chris Pratt after a Twitter user called for his replacement in the MCU. The post has since gained steam online and now more fans in the MCU community are questioning Pratt’s position as Star-Lord. Even still, Gunn showed his support for Pratt.
The tweet, which is embedded below, comes from Twitter user @themeghanlodon_ who posted the tweet with side by side images of Chris Pratt and actor Patrick Wilson with the caption: “Marvel. Hear me out. Just… replace him.”

The tweet, which has since been retweeted over seventeen thousand times was met with the two following responses from James Gunn:
“For what? Because of your made-up, utterly-false beliefs about him? For something that someone else told you about him that’s not true? Chris Pratt would never be replaced as Star-Lord but, if he ever was, we would all be going with him.”
“He isn’t. I know the church he currently goes to. Do you? (The answer is you don’t, but you heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone where he goes to church, so decided, “yeah, okay, I’ll believe this terrible thing I heard online about this celebrity!”)”
If you’re not aware what Gunn is referring to when he writes: “the church he currently goes to.” This in reference to concerns that became apparent about the actor in the first year of the pandemic when fans were actively discussing Pratt’s religious affiliation and certain beliefs that were thought to be held by his church.
Gunn’s Tweets have been met with a lot of support. Although, there is also a lot of discussion arguing against the actor’s casting in the third “Guardians of the Galaxy” film, which has officially finished shooting as of recent.
