Rumors have been going on for quite some time claiming Andrew Garfield is part of the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home film. Although, many, including the actor himself, have stated otherwise. However, on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the late night talk show host attempted to catch the actor off guard and it’s quite hilarious.
In the clip seen below, Fallon brought up the fact that a high-resolution video showing Garfield wearing a Spider-Man costume, while talking to someone else wearing gloves from a Spider-Man costume, had recently been circulating the internet. For those who have not been following this rumor, this was an idea that had been going around the internet for quite sometime. And if true, it could potentially be a multiversal moment in the MCU. Of course, this idea has been denied by several film stars and executives from Marvel Studios.
According to Comic Book, the short video almost matches up perfectly with a less high resolution photo that appears to feature Garfield standing a few feet from Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. The photo takes place on a large scaffolding, while in the video, you can see elements of a similar background.
The actor told Fallon that “if you can show me the photo, I can tell you if it’s me, or if it’s a real thing,” but Fallon said that the image had been removed from the internet, and Garfield hilariously countered, “Well, how convenient, detective Fallon!”
It’s been said that the image and video in question has not been fully scrubbed from the internet. However, it’s only natural that a major network show such as Fallon’s would not show this on the air.
At this time, official cast lists for the film do not include Andrew Garfield or Tobey McGuire for that matter. But, given this recent discovery, we can’t help but wonder what is to come with the release of the film later this year.
