The first reactions to Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt’s film, “Jungle Cruise” are coming in, and it seems as though Disney has knocked it out of the park once again!
The new film officially opens in theaters this coming Friday, but had its premiere event at Disneyland on Saturday night with largely positive reactions. Jungle Cruise is an epic adventure set in the early 20th century. The film follows witty riverboat captain Frank Wolff (Johnson) guiding a headstrong researcher Lily Houghton (Blunt), and her brother MacGregor (Jack Whitehall) on an expedition to discover a tree with healing powers that could help with modern medicine. Jungle Cruise is actually inspired by the films Indiana Jones and The African Queen. I’ve also heard that with all the action sequences, it reminds some of Pirates of the Caribbean.
Jungle Cruise has been in production since 2015 and finished filming in 2018. But reshoots and and of course the events since early 2020 delayed it to 2021. Jungle Cruise will finally hit theaters and Disney+ simultaneously on Friday. If you’d rather not go to the movie theater, you can catch the film at home on Disney+ Premier Access. Now, about those early reviews… let’s look at a few!
The reviews above only make me more excited to finally see the film! Jungle Cruise looks to be another hit in Disney’s successful resume of live-action films. I think Disney knew they would have a winner here, considering discussions of a sequel have already started.
Will you be seeing Jungle Cruise this weekend? At home or in theaters? My crew loves going to the movies, so I’m sure we will be heading out to see this adventure on the big screen!
