Unless you live under a rock, you probably know “The Falcon and the Winter Solider” is set to premiere on Disney+ beginning tomorrow. As exciting as it is to see the story of both of these characters continued, we’re actually even more excited for what this new series means for the MCU overall: the addition of at least three new Marvel Studios projects to come!
This news comes from the series’ head writer Malcolm Spellman, who teased this information in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. In the interview, Spellman stated: “”I can think of three that I’m not allowed to talk about.”
He also stated: “We have a future charted for characters post-Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but I don’t want to say much more than that.”
So what could these three projects look like exactly? We’re not entirely sure. However, there has been some speculation online that it could include the production of TV series or films revolving around Marvel characters such as The Thunderbolts, Amor Wars, Young Avengers, Captain America: The Next Avenger, or another Steve Rogers (Captain America) project.
It’s worth stating that any projects including the character of Captain America would most likely not be portrayed by the series’ original actor Chris Evans. However, how exciting would it be to possibly see the character come back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe–even if he was played by someone else?
Again, none of these titles are confirmed by Kevin Feige or Marvel Studios. Technically, all that has been confirmed is the idea that “The Falcon and the Winter Solider” will set up “new projects.” Although, it is exciting to think about all the possibilities to come.
From Spellman’s comment, it seems these three projects have not already been previously announced by Marvel Studios!
Following the premiere of “The Falcon and the Winter Solider,” the next MCU film or TV title to premiere to fans will be “Black Widow” on May 7, 2021.
