Bill Nye, most popularly known as “Bill Nye The Science Guy” from the 90s, is officially coming back to TV in an all-new series ordered by Peacock. However, the show won’t be about simple at-home experiments. Instead, it will revolve around Nye informing viewers about global disasters.
The series is called “The End is Nye” and is set to be hosted and executive produced by Nye. In the streaming service based show, Nye will look at various global disasters – both natural and unnatural. Nye will also explain how to survive, mitigate, and potentially even prevent the various disasters ahead of time.
Here is Peacock’s description of the series:
“Each episode takes a hell-bent dive into the mystery and reality of its threats, from viruses to volcanoes, asteroids to authoritarianism, and climate change to chemical warfare. Every worldwide catastrophe is abundant with thrills, but also hope and a way forward. THE END IS NYE offers a scientific blueprint for surviving anything that comes our way.”
The series is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio and UCP, divisions of Universal Studio Group, as well as Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door production company. Brannon Braga will serve as executive producer and show runner on the series. Braga will also direct all episodes.
Most Disney fans know Nye from his time on his popular “Bill Nye The Science Guy” TV series, which ran in syndication from 1993–1994 and on PBS (1995–1998). The show ran for 5 seasons with 100 episodes.
At this time, Peacock has not announced an official release date or production start for the series. For that reason, we can’t really say when Nye will return to the small screen. Although, we’d like to think it’s sooner rather than later!
