Our recent look at spectacular holiday decor across the Walt Disney World Resort included a glimpse of the jaw-dropping Christmas tree and decorations at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Today, we’re unwrapping this Victorian-themed wonderland of beauty – and some of the magic behind it.
Step into the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and you can’t miss the new head-turning snowflake ornaments that feature “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Disney Holiday Services chose “The 12 Days of Christmas” as a theme that’s relatable and enjoyable for guests of all ages.
The snowflake artwork fits into the overall Victorian theme of the holiday designs you’ll see with other ornaments on the lobby’s Christmas trees and throughout the resort.
Matching designs with the time period is extremely important when decorating at the Resort and it’s something guests notice and appreciate, according to Ed Miles of Disney Holiday Services. “Actually, someone came in and said this looks like something that was in my great grandmother’s or grandfather’s house and I said, ‘thank you, that’s exactly what we’re going for.’”
At the highest point of the tree, you’ll spot a special 2-foot topper that has been ingeniously created from a weather vane. It’s copper with a rose gold theme and a perfect decoration for the tree.
Each decoration is expertly placed so that an amazing photograph can be taken at any angle, no matter where you’re standing.
Delightfully detailed holiday surprises can also be found around the Resort, including bright Victorian lanterns with “retro” bulbs at the resort’s porte cochere.
And twinkling lights add to the magical experience as holiday melodies fill the air in the classic setting of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
