Are the extreme crowds at Downtown Disney keeping you from getting your share of spooky Halloween Disney merchandise? Well, you’re in luck because the theme park resort is opening a pop-up shop inside Disney California Adventure to manage the larger than normal crowds!
The shop opened officially Tuesday, October 5, and was meant to be an extension of Downtown Disney outdoor shopping mall in the Stage 17 building inside Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure.
As we all know, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are still closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Downtown Disney was reopened in July with new health and safety protocols. Although, these were recently challenged thanks to higher than normal visitation to the Disney entertainment shopping center.
This new pop-up will work as a means to spread out these extra crowds and give more visitors the opportunity to get their Halloween Disney fix. Shoppers can access Stage 17 from Downtown Disney by using a backstage entrance near the east side of the esplanade (the area between Disneyland and DCA).
According to a release by Disney, Stage 17 has been transformed into a 10,000-square-foot retail center for spooky Disney Halloween merchandise. With this temporary addition, the resort was able to free up space in the 40,000-square-foot World of Disney, which has become very popular since Downtown Disney’s reopening in July.
This Backlot Premiere Shop in Stage 17 will offer guests Halloween clothing, accessories, novelties, and home decor from the World of Disney and other Disney shops in Downtown Disney. Some seasonal merchandise that is said to be offered at the shop includes Minnie Mouse ears, backpacks, plush dolls, mugs, trading pins, and necklaces. This is all in addition to Halloween-themed merchandise from the Haunted Mansion, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Coco.”
According to OC Register, Downtown Disney has hit capacity within minutes after opening on many recent weekend days. In fact, the crowds have been so large, some shoppers arriving by car have been turned away before even being able to enter the parking lot.
