Hello Main Street Mouse Ohana!
I hope you all had a great week. At some point this week I was thinking about Disney, big surprise I know. I was actually thinking about how to do Disney on a budget. There are so many people who come to Disney each year and it’s expensive. So what can you actually do at the parks that is free so you can splurge on other things?
Here are my top five things you can do for FREE
- Collect Stickers
So having a little girl of my own now I have been able to appreciate the value in a sticker. When we are having an off day sometimes that simple sticker really makes her happy. The cast members have many different stickers so depending on where you are and what is around you can get some pretty cool stickers. We actually have quite a collection that we started when my kiddo was just an infant. Hey adults, don’t be too shy to ask for a sticker! The cast members will give them to you too!
- Buttons/Pins
Is it your birthday? Did you just get married? Well, whatever your occasion they have great pins that are free at guest services and most shops around the parks. Maybe you just are celebrating being in the parks with friends? For any occasion, get a button and commemorate it! A little tip, after you write on your button put a piece of tape over the sharpie marker print so it won’t smudge off. My daughter has one of the first visit buttons from each time she visited the various parks. We put them in her scrapbook so we can tell her all about it. I love reading peoples buttons too and saying congratulations or happy birthday to them. Want to feel special on your birthday? Go to Disney with your birthday button on! Endless happy birthday wishes from all the cast members! There is always a reason to celebrate when you are in the parks!
- Resort Hop!
You are already in the parks, but what if you want to do something different? Go check out the resorts on the property! Go to Port Orleans French Quarter where it is always Mardi Gras, or take a stroll around the Art of Animation resort. The theming at the value resorts is really awesome, and some of the resorts have nice grounds to explore. As a local, I really enjoy going to see the resorts. I like to stay on the property too but sometimes just going to walk around and explore is fun. Grab a coffee and go for a stroll!
- Hidden Mickey’s
It’s always fun to spot a hidden Mickey, but you can actually make a game of this. Disney has books they put out about how the hidden Mickey’s and where they are. I have an app on my phone for finding them, it’s fun! You can be in the parks, the springs, a resort, and find hidden Mickey’s and keep track of who finds them first or who finds the most. It’s also a fun thing to do when you are waiting in line for a ride if there are any documented ones in that queue, or who knows you might find one that no one has noticed!
- Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
This fun game is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Lately, I have not been able to play unless someone is taking a nap, but it’s so fun. Ok, here is how it works. You go to the fire station on Main Street and get a starter pack of these cards and a map. They attach your game on your magic band or ticket. The people on Main Street will tell you where you will start your game and when you get to the location you scan your ticket or band. Once you do, Merlin comes up and gives you the scoop. You are trying to protect the Magic Kingdom from the villains and your cards have powers. They do different things depending on the card you use. You can get a new set of cards every time you go to the park or when you finish the game! They have different levels the better you get as well. Now some people are serious gamers with this and have figured out different patterns and such, I just like to pick a card and see if it works. Oh and at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary and Very Merry, they have special cards to get! What are you waiting for!?
And there you have it for this week! See you real soon!
