Helpful Tip
All cutting should be done by an adult.
Directions
Preheat oven to 375° degrees.
Whisk together your sugar and applesauce.
Add in your mashed bananas, vanilla, and milk — combining thoroughly.
In a separate bowl, mix together your baking powder and flour.
Combine your flour mixture with your wet mixture using a rubber spatula.
Spread flour on a cutting board, place a ball of the dough down, and sprinkle more flour on top. Roll it out flat, to about 1/8″ thick.
Use a small knife to cut your magic carpet shapes.
Place your unbaked magic carpet cookies onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 9 minutes.
While your cookies are cooling, make your frosting.
Fill a pot or double broiler with a couple inches of water, and bring to a boil.
If using a pot, place a large bowl on top and place your frosting ingredients (egg white, sugar, and water) inside, beating fast until peaks form. If using a double broiler, place the ingredients in the top of your double broiler and beat until peaks form.
Once the frosting is ready, add the food coloring and mix well.
Frost and decorate your magic carpet cookies for an Aladdin movie night!
