Re-post from last week in case you missed it! -M
Spoiler warning!
Yesterday was the all day press event for the new attraction, Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I had to be there bright and early in the morning, because there were things scheduled throughout the day, ending with the dedication ceremony that evening. I had heard so much hype for Rise of the Resistance that I was afraid that it might not live up to my expectations. Was it really as good as people were saying? Will it have that wow factor? Let’s discuss.
Previously I had taken a tour of the construction for Rise of the Resistance. The room we saw was the one filled with an army of Stormtroopers, which was so impressive. That’s as far as we got. Yesterday the entire experience was revealed and I was truly excited to get to see it all.
The premise of the attraction is that you are being captured by the First Order. Kylo Ren and his crew have you in their clutches, but the Resistance is there to help rescue you. In the queue you’re going to see a hologram of Rey, explaining the mission, as well as other familiar faces. Your ship gets captured by the First Order, then the fun begins.
The cast members stay true to character as the “bad guys” so to speak and do a phenomenal job. Your group gets put into a holding cell where you are addressed by General Hux and Kylo Ren himself. No, not intimidating whatsoever. As you are in the cell, you’ll be rescued by the Resistance then loaded onto the ride vehicles, which have no track. The goal is to get away from Kylo and company, and it’s not going to be an easy task.
Once you are inside the ride, you truly are part of an experience like no other. There are special effects, animatronics, holograms, larger than life AT-AT’s and more!
Rise of the Resistance went far beyond any expectation that I could have had. Disney outdid themselves by a long shot. Even if you are not necessarily a die hard Star Wars fan, you’re sure to be amazed by this new experience. Seriously, it’s not a ride, it’s a full on experience that should be on your Disney must-do list. I’ve had readers ask my honest opinion, including if I thought this ride was better than Flight of Passage over at Animal Kingdom. Personally, I feel that it is. Rise of the Resistance is state of the art and unlike anything Disney has done before. I went on four times and couldn’t get enough. This morning at the Studios Disney did a virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance in order to accommodate the high volume of guests wanting to ride. The queue was filled before 9am. As with any new Disney attraction, it’s going to be busy for some time so you’ll have to bring your patience with you for sure. Rise of the Resistance is definitely worth the wait, I think you’ll love it too. Well done Disney!
