Welcome Foolish Mortals… to this weeks update! The Haunted Mansion is celebrating 50 years of happy haunting on August 9th, and since it’s my favorite Disney attraction I thought we’d talk a little bit about it!
I remember when I was a kid, I was scared to go into the Haunted Mansion. At first. Once I actually rode it, I was hooked. Andrew was never afraid but Aidan was. When he was around 5 I believe, I had to convince him that he’d love the Haunted Mansion if he gave it a try. He rode when he was younger but didn’t remember. I was right and he did love it, thank God because I’d have felt bad if he didn’t! It’s one of those rides that we go on pretty much every time we go to Magic Kingdom. In 2017 we finally got to see the original Mansion, the one that’s turning 50 in California. It was a bucket list item for me, plus they have the Hatbox Ghost out there. It truly didn’t disappoint. So this week we are going to go over to Liberty Square on the anniversary and see what’s going on. I know there will be a lot of new merchandise and that’s scary because I’m trying to save up for our Disneyland trip in less than two weeks. I still can’t believe it’s almost time for the D23 Expo! Sigh… summer flew by! Anyhow, I talked about the HM festivities on the radio this morning and linked the footage below.
This week has been hectic. It’s almost back to school time and we have been trying to get ready. School starts on Monday, and I’m a little sad about it. I hate how quickly time goes by. Work has been busy too. I have an event at the Studios tomorrow, Disney Springs on Monday, Food & Wine Festival AND Halloween next Friday night. Then to Disneyland to cover the Expo. Whew! Oh wait, there’s more. THEN the Galaxy’s Edge press event is the morning after we get back from Anaheim. Two weeks after that is our TMSM Fan Cruise. I have a feeling that all of this will go by just as fast as the summer did. Busy is good, I just wish I could take it all in a little bit more. I’m hoping to get some family time in with the boys before D23. We plan to take them to the parks which they are really looking forward to. I’m looking forward to it too!
With everything that’s coming up, I hope you follow our coverage on our social media accounts. I get nerved up when we do these events because I push myself to do a good job. Especially the D23 Expo. The convention itself is HUGE. Truly overwhelming so there’s a lot to cover. It’s still the best job, much better than my old office job in Detroit. I wouldn’t trade it!
On a serious note, before I wrap up… With all the sadness that’s going on in our country this week, I just wanted to send out a little extra love. Sometimes we get a reality check and realize what’s important and how we need to count our blessings. The things I stress over are nowhere near what these families in Texas and Ohio are dealing with. My prayers go out to them. So maybe this week, we can try a little harder to extend some extra kindness, understanding, forgiveness and patience. You just never know what people are dealing with or who could use the extra love. It’s a good thing. See ya real soon! -M
