Tis the Season!
It’s less than one week till Christmas Day and a lot of us are busy doing last minute preparations. The hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season is crazy for so many people, and we get preoccupied with all the things we have to do. Disney is crazy busy this time of year as well! The lines are longer, the crowds are heavy, and guests tend to lose their patience at times because of how hectic it is at the parks. Same thing in our non-Disney lives. Shopping, traffic, family parties, gift wrapping…… oh my, so much to do! Christmas is hectic and happy for most, but not for everyone. Some find the holidays difficult for a lot of reasons. Sometimes Christmas swirls up memories of family and friends who are no longer with us, some stress over financial struggles and the pressure to buy gifts for loved ones, others don’t have extended family to spend their day with. I think this year, and really every year, we need to keep those people in mind and remember to be kind, because we never know what someone else is facing in their lives, especially during the holidays.
Acts of Christmas kindness can go a long, long way. Whether it’s holding a door for someone at a store, or at Disney, letting someone in front of you at a parade or show so they can see, or maybe even giving up your seat to someone who needs the extra help. Little things DO indeed matter. As for myself, we want people to know that they DO have friends here at TMSM, and to not feel alone this Holiday season. I’ve seen random posts here and there of members lately, who are struggling this year, and if breaks my heart. I wanted people to know that they always, always, always have a Disney family to turn to, even when they feel like there’s nothing else. Part of what we do at TMSM is create an environment where everyone feels welcome, and everyone is indeed important. Extend words of encouragement to someone, even online, only take a second and could make the world of difference to someone who needs the friendly words. I know I’m trying to do my part to help others, and I hope you will do the same! Kindness does the heart good, I promise you! It’s a win-win situation!
So this holiday season, I challenge each of you, whether you’re at home or at a Disney destination, extend an act of kindness to someone in need. Give an extra hug, offer words of encouragement, donate a toy to a needy child! Try to breathe and not let things get you down, stay positive, we’re all in this together! I thank you all for reading our kindness blogs and for being so supportive of others in our extended Disney family! Enjoy this next week as much as you can, Christmas will be here before we know it! Sending you love and many blessings this Holiday season! ~M
