This past weekend we stopped by Hollywood Studios to get our Star Wars fix. We arrived late in the day and we were heading over to Star Tours when we stopped to watch the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple show. It was already 6:15 and my son said, “Mommy can I do this today?” Well given the time and there was only one more show left to do, I said “We can try, but they may all be booked for the day.” So we headed over to the Jedi Training check in area and to our surprise they still had openings for the last show.
The check in area is back behind the Indiana Jones show next to the 50’s Prime Time Cafe. Normally you would go to the check in area when you get to the park and they will let you know if there are any spots available, then tell you to come back 30 minutes prior to your show time, but this day it was the last show of the day and we were checked in right away. Make sure that when you are checking to see if there are any time slots that you have your child with you. They will ask your child questions, including his age and if he can follow directions on stage. Your child must answer these questions, not the adult. You must be between the age of 4 and 12 to participate. Once checked in they will fit each young Jedi with a robe and there are Cast Members there to assist them. About 10 minutes before show time they will begin lining up the kids to head over to the stage. My suggestion is that one adult stays with the child and the rest of your party heads on over to the stage to get a good viewing area.
Once the Jedis are lined up, they march on over to the stage. It’s so much fun seeing them all parade towards the stage chanting and cheering along the way. Once at the stage, Disney PhotoPass gives you a photo card to get all your pictures after the show. And let me tell you, Disney PhotoPass does an amazing job getting tons of pictures of all the kids. This gives you the opportunity to just enjoy your child in the show and not worry about taking pictures.
Once the show starts, the Jedi Masters give the kids a quick training of what they need to know before the Dark Side comes out. It was so fun watching my son get so into this.
When training is complete, the Dark Side emerges from the Temple and we get to see Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. The stage is set up in two levels and they split the kids to have some on top and some on the bottom. The kids on top battled Darth Vader and the kids on the bottom battled Kylo Ren.
My son got to battle Kylo Ren and he was so excited. You don’t get a choice, so it’s a surprise for the kids. All his training was put to the test with Kylo and he did an awesome job! The show continues with all the kids getting their turn and in the end (Spoiler Alert) the Jedi win.
At the end of the show, the kids all got a cool Jedi Training pin and a small bottle of water. My son had so much fun doing this and we all really enjoyed watching him. So next time you are visiting Hollywood Studios, make sure to check out Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. You and your family are sure to enjoy it!
Thank you Disney PhotoPass for the great pics!
