Over the past 90 years, Mickey Mouse has left his mark on entertainment, pop culture, and of course, fashion. And to celebrate this landmark anniversary, Vault by Vans has a new collection that combines artists and the “True Original” himself, Mickey Mouse.
Four artists, including John Van Hamersveld, Mr. Cartoon, Geoff McFetridge, and Taka Hayashi, have created one-of-a-kind artwork that will be featured on Vans’ OG Sk8-Hi LX, as well as a short-sleeved tee. Each artist brings their own unique interpretation of Mickey, all while celebrating the things we love about this iconic character.
Canadian designer, illustrator, and animator Geoff McFetridge went for a more minimalistic and surreal illustrative style highlighting Mickey’s famous yellow shoe.
Best known for his psychedelic patterns and vibrant color schemes, illustrator and graphic designer John Van Hamersveld plays with the idea of Mickey’s silhouette in his design.
Fly up and away with this denim-on-denim design from Taka Hayashi. We love the pop of pink and the fun ways Hayashi incorporated Mickey’s shoes, shorts, and gloves.
Tattoo artist Mark Machado, more famously known as Mr. Cartoon, took inspiration from the style of fine line tattooing for his artwork featuring Mickey driving a vintage car.
The collection is available on August 25 at select Vault by Vans accounts. Let us know in the comments which one is your favorite!
