DOLE GIVES PIXAR FANS THE CHANCE TO BECOME EVERYDAY HEROES IN THE FIGHT FOR HEALTHIER KIDS

Dole is recruiting everyday heroes to join the Parr family – Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack – and help fight for healthier kids and families as part of its celebration of Pixar●Disney’s Incredibles 2, arriving in theaters June 15.

It’s the latest chapter in Dole’s yearlong “Powering the Hero Within” (#DoleHero and #DoleFamily) initiative, which this summer takes the form of a 15-week healthy-eating collaboration with Incredibles 2. The program combines a broad new set of Incredibles 2-inspired breakfast, entrée, snack and drink recipes and useful healthy eating tips with colorful character images on millions of DOLE® Bananas and Pineapples in U.S and Canadian supermarkets continentwide.

In addition to iconic Incredibles 2 characters featured on DOLE produce, the program includes food, family and entertainment bloggers and social influencers throughout North America spreading the heroic healthy message, and the new dedicated website www.dole.com/Disney.

The new site offers Incredibles 2-themed nutrition information and recipes, and allows visitors to load and share photos depicting their families’ idea of healthy eating. For each photo uploaded between May 24 and Sept.,15, 2018, Dole has committed to make a $2 donation to Action for Healthy Kids to support the national nonprofit organization’s work to build healthier families, communities and schools. Under the organization’s motto “Every kid healthy, active and ready to learn,” Dole and Action for Healthy Kids hope to inspire people to become a hero for those around them.

The heroic fun arrives May 24, National Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day, and continues through September as part of a multiyear alliance by Dole and Disney to honor the moms, dads, grandparents, teachers, coaches and other everyday heroes committed to making home and school healthier places.

“From stay-at-home dads to single parents and blended households, we know that family structures continue to change,” said Bil Goldfield, director of corporate communications for Dole and the father of a young daughter. “What hasn’t changed is the simple fact that raising healthy families today can feel like a hero-worthy challenge against junk food and other villains looking to lure kids down the wrong nutritious path.”

“Dole is taking its cue from Disney●Pixar’s Incredibles 2 to provide the super recipes, serving suggestions and healthy-living tips that moms, dads and others need to positively impact family eating habits all summer long.  Because at the end of the day, everyday heroes are the most powerful heroes of all.”

“When children are offered healthier foods combined with nutrition education, they are better equipped to make smart food choices that impact not only their health but also their ability to learn in school,” said Rob Bisceglie, CEO, Action for Healthy Kids and the father of three school-aged children. “Thanks to Dole, we can support more health heroes in their efforts to make the experience of trying new fruits and vegetables a fun and positive one for kids, both at school and at home.”

Family meal planners will find special inspiration from among 15 original Dole fruit and vegetable recipes inspired by the Parr Family and their alter egos in Disney●Pixar’s Incredibles 2. Created by the Dole Nutrition Institute (DNI), the recipes also link to holidays and occasions through the fall including “Salad Power Wowser” and “Super Banana-Berry Boom” for Spring; “Incredible Power Flower” and “Parr-fect Power-up Cup” for Father’s Day; “Power Pop Breakfast Smoothie” and “Pineapple Frozen Fireworks” for Independence Day; “Terrific Take-off Sweet Toast” for Summer Vacation; and “Snack-Snack Attack” and the “Berry Brave Incredi-bowl” for Back to School, among others.

Celebrated annually on the Thursday before Memorial Day, National Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day is an official holiday created by Dole in 2015 through official proclamation by Los Angeles and Salinas counties and the California cities of Monterey and Westlake Village to promote a healthy lifestyle, especially a diet rich in fresh produce.
