Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re all doing well and are ready to catch up! It’s been a crazy week, so let’s go!
We’re pretty much settled into the new house, thank God. Are all my boxes unpacked? No, but almost. It’s finally starting to feel like home, and that’s a good feeling. It’s funny how quickly we adjust to new surroundings. Sometimes the thought of going someplace new is much scarier than the actual destination. That’s so me, my life. Worry over nothing, and have people tell me “I told you so” afterwards. That about sums it up. The same can be said for what I do for TMSM. I remember a few years ago, I was terrified to cover media events, I wouldn’t sleep the night before. Even worse, having to be on camera, nope, can’t do it. At least that’s what I told myself. Well, in the past week I’ve covered a media event and was on camera twice, and I was fine. Funny how self doubt can be so crippling, and how we have to sometimes just face that fear anyway. I’m so glad I did. I love my job now, I’m not fearful of it, I actually welcome these projects. Speaking of projects, did you catch our FIRST episode of TMSM Weekly Live? It was broadcast on Facebook this past Monday night, and went SO well. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and I can’t begin to tell you what a relief that was. We did it. People loved it. We’re doing it again next Monday!! Here’s the replay in case you missed it! It was a blast!
On the Disney front, last Friday we covered the opening of the all new Pixar Play Zone at the Contemporary Resort. The new spot for kids looks like so much fun. The kiddos can play video games, eat pizza, do crafts, meet characters AND have a dance party. Sounds like they need an adult version as well! It reminded me of the play areas that they offer on Disney Cruise Line. So fun. I talked to Tony, one of the people who headed up this new project. You can watch that below for more info!
On Saturday, we had a family day at the Magic Kingdom. It was LONG overdue. Between work and moving, we’ve had no time for fun, and that needed to change. It’s funny because we were genuinely excited to go to Disney World, like tourists, because we missed it even though we’re six miles away. If you’re wondering if living here takes the fun out of Disney, the answer is no. It was hot outside, just beautiful though. We made it in time to watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade, used a gift card we had for early dinner at Crystal Palace, went on some rides and stayed for fireworks. All in all, it was a great day out. With the kids getting older, I really try to enjoy the family time we have, and make moments count whenever possible. Those boys are my world, and they’re growing up far too fast. I know you parents out there can relate. Where does the time go? When they were babies, Crystal Palace was always on my to do list for vacations. They loved the characters. I can’t tell you how much happiness fills my heart to see them now as teenagers, still smiling at characters, giving them hugs and letting me take pictures. They know I’m going to take their picture regardless, so they humor me. Those boys were groomed to be Disney fans since their birth, and I hope someday they pass that on to their own kids. Until then, I’ll just take what I can get and enjoy my Disney time with them while they still let me.
There was some confusion this past weekend too. Some of our members thought I was in California, covering the beginning of Pixar Fest at Disneyland. Then they saw me covering the Pixar Play Zone at WDW. How’d I do that? Well, I didn’t! Our merchandise writer Lindsey covered Pixar Fest for me! Did you see the awesome swag they have for this event? Absolutely adorable! Her coverage only makes us want to get back out to Disneyland even more! This Sunday is the Animal Kingdom 20 year Anniversary, and there are media events that day. I’m actually going out of town, but we have coverage for it so be sure to stay tuned. As for me, I get to go see behind the scenes at Toy Story Land on Monday afternoon, so don’t forget to watch our live show that evening for the full scoop! So exciting. This weekend, I’m going home to Michigan. My Grandma is celebrating her 90th birthday, and there’s a big family party on Saturday. 90 years young, quite an accomplishment. Also, my very first nephew was born this week, so I’ll get to see him as well. Sometimes you have to take time away for family, you MAKE time, even when it’s hard. My biggest issue is flying tomorrow, I have a horrendous fear of air travel, I’ve barely slept all week. See, there I go again, getting myself all worked up and worried. I’m sure it will be fine, and of course you know I’ll tell you all about it next week. On that note, I need to wrap things up, I have lots to do before tomorrow! The past few days, I was reminded of how amazing our Main Streeters are and how much of a blessing it is to have everyone follow along each week. Each day. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Until next week, sending you lots of love, blessings and pixie dust. See ya real soon! ~M
