Happy New Year Main Streeters! A new year is here, and I for one am excited to see where 2018 will take us! Let’s hope it a great one for us all. But first…. lets catch up on the last week of 2017, shall we?
We are back in not so sunny Florida, and it’s cold. No, not cold like we had up in Michigan, but cold nonetheless. It’s funny because it seems that Floridians aren’t “allowed” to complain about cold weather, it becomes a cold weather competition with those in the North. I get that to a degree, no pun intended. We just left the frozen tundra, aka Michigan, and it was misery, so Florida cold is an improvement. When we first got to Michigan it was cold, but not terrible. The last week however had below zero temps and wind chill, and honestly, it was a bit much for us. Being that we’re used to Florida weather now, we’ve lost our Michigan cold weather cred, it’s totally gone. I can admit it too, we’ve lost our tolerance. Last week, we did leave the house and venture out, cold weather and all. I went to dinner with the “Michigan Besties” as people know them by, which is always a good time. I miss my friends during the year, so any chance we can get to have dinner and drinks is a must. My parents picked up my Gram and we all headed to Hollywood Casino one evening as well, which I had never been to. We went to Wahlburgers in Detroit, and did some local “sight seeing” and truly had a nice visit home. Leaving is always a bit sad, but I know it won’t be long until I see my family and friends again, time goes by fast.
So here we are, back in Florida. Everyone is going crazy over the cold temps here. Speaking of cold, the drive home from Michigan this time was absolute misery. Usually it starts to warm up the further south we drive, and this time that wasn’t the case. It was freezing cold in every state, I couldn’t believe it. It’s like the Michigan weather was following our car. Yes, it’s cold in Florida this week, but by next week we’ll be back around 70 degrees and all will be right with the world as far as this area is concerned. It can always be worse. I’m actually happy to be back in Florida, and I honestly miss Disney. I’m going to figure out some Disney time before the kids go back to school next week, regardless of whether it’s “cold” or not. We still have our jackets out from Michigan, might as well put them to good use! Last year was amazing for TMSM, I seriously could’t ask for anything better. How do I top that in 2018? I sure as heck don’t know, but what I do know is that I do have some goals and ambitions for the year, and I’m praying to see those things come to be. It’s good to have goals, and just because you attain some of what you strive for, doesn’t mean we stop dreaming. Keep moving forward, find new dreams…. that’s what it’s all about. Well, that’s it this week. Thank you all for keeping up with my family in 2017, and I’m hoping you stick by us for 2018 too. It’s a crazy ride, but I’m glad we’re on it together. Until next time, sending you lots of love, blessings and pixie dust. See ya real soon! ~M
