Who doesn’t love LEGO playtime? As a little girl, I was a huge fan of building with these iconic bricks, and now, as an adult, I appreciate them even more. (I’m dreaming of the day when my young son can use his imagination and create to his heart’s content – he’s already got his first LEGO DUPLO set on standby!)
I know I’m not alone in my love for all things LEGO … earlier this month, thousands of Disney Springs guests visited The LEGO Store to take part in a LEGO Master Builder Event where they had the opportunity to contribute to a larger-than-life Yoda or Darth Vader statue; light side or dark side, both figures were impressive, standing tall at 8 feet and 10 feet, respectively. The father/son pair of Master Builders, Dan and Chris, were on hand for the festivities and even had the opportunity to pose for photos with a few true LEGO aficionados.
The event was part of a celebration to recognize the 20-year anniversary of The LEGO Store here at Disney Springs. Yes, the venue has been delighting families for two decades now! If you have kids, chances are your visits to Disney Springs Marketplace usually include a stop at this colorful retail location where play is encouraged. When my now six-year old niece was just two, The LEGO Store was her favorite thing at “Auntie’s work” and she asks to go back every time she’s in town for a visit.
If you weren’t able to attend in person, check out the impressive time lapse video below, captured during the 3-day build. (Tip: You can also see the Yoda and Darth Vader figures in person for a limited-time leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.)
With the holiday shopping season now in full swing, be sure to add Disney play sets from The LEGO Store to your list of gifts to give. A few sets that are especially hot this year include The Disney Castle, BB-8, Mickey Racer, Minnie Mouse Bow-tique, First Order Heavy Assault Walker, and First Order Star Destroyer, all available at The LEGO Store at Disney Springs Marketplace, while supplies last.
What about you – do you have fond memories of visiting the LEGO Store during your past visits to Disney Springs? Share details in the comments below, I’d love to know!
