The D23 Expo will be taking place this week coming weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center. To help you prepare for the Expo we will be sharing different D23 themed “TMSM Explains” articles throughout the week. Tonight we wanted to share some basic must know information with you!
What is the D23 Expo?
The D23 Expo is a biannual event hosted by the Disney Company to showcase their brands and bring fans together. The next Expo will be held July 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Show hours are 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Who can go to the D23 Expo?
Anyone! All you have to do is buy a ticket. Right now 3-day and Saturday only tickets are sold out. If you buy a ticket right now you would pick it up at Will Call. Tickets can be purchased on the D23 website!
What happens at the D23 Expo?
So very much occurs at the Expo! Meet and Greets, merchandise announcements and sales, Disney will host their Live Action and Animated Movie panels which will feature sneak peeks of upcoming movies, the Legends Award ceremony will honor several important people in Disney history, and so much more!! There will be presentations on live action and animated Disney movies and shows, Marvel, Star Wars and Disney owned television channels.
I bought tickets and they haven’t come yet?
If you live outside of the U.S. you will have to pick up your tickets at Will Call as D23 doesn’t mail them outside the U.S. If you are in the U.S. email D23 as they may have gotten lost but you will probably have to pick them up at Will Call.
When is Will Call open?
Will Call is in the Anaheim Convention Center’s Arena Box Office. The hours are Thursday, July 13, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Friday, July 14 – Saturday, July 15: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 16, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. To pick up your tickets at Will Call you will need a photo id and copy of your ticket purchase information.
I bought tickets, but I didn’t get a lanyard or ticket sleeve with them?
Like with most conventions when D23 Expo tickets are mailed they do NOT come with a lanyard or pouch/holder. When you enter the Expo for the first time you will be handed those items and a guide book. This helps cut down on shipping costs and left at home items!
Are there any big changes from the past I should know about?
D23 will have bag checks and metal detectors this year. They will be handling entry differently (and hopefully better) than in the past because of this.
Can people hold my spot in line?
NO! Sorry, but that has been a huge issue in the past and this year D23 is finally stepping in and putting an end to the “spot holding” problem many Expo attendees have complained about in the past. The even clearly note it on their website “No re-entry is allowed, and all members of your party must be present (no holding space in line for others to join later).”; “All members of your party must be present at time of entry to the queue (no saving).” and “Signing opportunities and presentation seating are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.”
I am a D23 Gold Member do I need my Member Card to take advantage of Gold Member Perks?
Yes! Remember to take your D23 Membership card with you to D23 Expo 2017 in order to take part in the above benefits. Benefits are for the one named D23 Gold or Gold Family Card-holder and will not be extended to card-holder’s guests, regardless of membership type, except as noted. You will also need a photo id!
I am a Gold D23 Member and will be taking guests do I have to be with them for them to get Gold Member perks?
Yes. Yes you do. You are the member, they are the guest. The Membership Card is issued in your name so for them to us any benefits or perks they are allowed entitled to use as a Member Guest you and your Membership card must be present.
Where can I park?
Parking is not free. You can either park at the Anaheim Convention Center or the Honda Center (there will be a free shuttle). The D23 Expo 2017 parking hours for July 14 – 16, 2017 are Honda Center – $12 per entry (with shuttle service): 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and the Anaheim Convention Center – $16 per entry: 5:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. There is no overnight parking at either location. If you are planning on overnighting in line you will need to find another parking option.
Is there an app for this event?
Why of course there is!! You can download the D23 Expo app for iOS and Android!
There has to be so much more information! How can I learn more?
We will be sharing more about the Expo throughout the week. Tomorrow night you can learn about “How Meet And Greets Will Work At The D23 Expo”; Tuesday night learn about “D23 Expo StagePass, StorePass and The Over Night Queue”; Wednesday we will cover “D23 Expo Costume Guidelines and More” and on Thursday you can take a moment to learn about “Things Gold D23 Members Should Know For This Year’s D23 Expo.”
