Do as Dreamers Do – Creations by Baeli.
Hi Main Streeters! Welcome back to this series featuring amazing individuals who have a passion for Disney, and create some wonderful stuff for the Disney community. Last month we took a break from showcasing new shops, since there was so much happening at Disney, with the new fireworks show at Magic Kingdom and Pandora opening at Animal Kingdom. We are back at it though and this month’s Dreamer is Baeli Reyes, the owner of Creations by Baeli.
If you aren’t familiar, Creation by Baeli is a creative shop specializing in Disney inspired wreaths. Truly perfect home décor for a Disney fan wishing to spruce up the entrance to their home, or even incorporate a wreath into interior design.
I reached out to Baeli through a Facebook group and she was gracious enough to agree to an interview. Check it out:
Erika (E): When did you first become a Disney fan?
Baeli (B): I was born a Disney fan! I grew up going to Disneyland and always having an annual pass! I used to be OBSESSED with the Disneyland Fun sing-a-long VHS. I would cry when it was over until my brother came in and restarted it for me. Disneyland is my home, and Disney was, and still is a huge part of my life.
E: Did you always know you wanted to have your own small business?
B: No! I had no idea how amazing small shop owners were until I became one. I’ve always been crafty and loved making things, I just never thought people would actually want to buy my creations!
E: Can you tell me a little but about what you make?
B: Disney inspired wreaths! I started off with a Jack Skellington wreath, which turned into making man eating wreaths during the holidays and Mickey Head wreaths during the spring and summer
E: What steps did you pursue to hone in on your craft?
B: I was lucky. I just started making things for myself and for my home, and I’ve had so much support and love from my customers and small shop friends that it was so easy to find my niche!
E: Did you always want to create Disney inspired items? If so, what sparked that, if not, what sparked the change?
B: Yes! My home is FULL of Disney stuff. Every room has a different theme and I figured the best way to decorate my home is by making the stuff I want to see on my doors and walls. It’s amazing that my customers want to see my creations on their walls and doors as well!
E: What is your favorite Disney inspired subject to draw inspiration from?
B: I draw inspiration from EVERYTHING Disney! My original wreaths were inspired by Nightmare before Christmas and my spring/summer wreaths are inspired by Disney Characters
E: What’s your favorite type of piece to work on?
B: My favorite wreath to make are my man eating wreaths! I love them so much that this upcoming Halloween/ Christmas season I will be offering 3 sizes so anyone can purchase one no matter their budget!
E: What kinds of requests do you get?
B: Currently I receive requests for different character inspired Mickey wreaths. Recently I’ve done wreaths inspired by Belle, Aurora, Alice, Rapunzel etc. And I have so many more ideas!
E: Anything new, fans and readers should be looking forward to?
B: MORE Mickey Head wreaths! More Disney Character inspired ones, and ones based on the Food and Wine festival as well as the other EPCOT festivals!
E: If you could give anyone some advice to Do as Dreamers Do, what would it be?
B: GO FOR IT! Follow your dreams and do what makes you happy! As Walt Disney says “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them”.
I thanked Baeli for giving me her time and honest answers to help this series continue to shine a light on talented Disney creators. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the new wreaths she puts out and the different sizes of the man eating ones. You all know me, when it comes to anything spooky and Disney related, I’m sold. Check out her shop on social media, and reach out to her if you want to create something special and unique for your home!
