Did you hear about this one?
The Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise has been a huge moneymaker for Disney, but this time, it may cost them some money. According to Deadline news, hackers have gotten a hold of the latest film and are holding it for ransom. Disney CEO Bob Iger did reveal to ABC employees at a town hall meeting in New York on Monday that the incident had occurred, but didn’t reveal which movie the hackers claim to have. The hackers are seeking a large amount of money to be paid in Bitcoin, and while Disney hasn’t commented, insiders say that Disney has refused to pay and is currently working with the FBI. The movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales, is scheduled for release on May 26th.
What do you think? Should Disney pay up so the hackers don’t release portions of the movie?
