Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! It’s time for our weekly chat and we’ve got a lot of ground to cover, so lets get started!
Friday night kicked off the horror/pop culture convention, Spooky Empire, and we were invited to go. These types of conventions are actually a lot of fun. There’s so much to walk around and see. We got some exciting news while at Spooky Empire….. the people who put on this convention got permission to do a Disney Villains convention actually ON Disney property this September. There will also be an after hours party at the Tower of Terror. We’re excited about this upcoming idea and are glad to be part of it! More to come as I hear!
On Saturday, we went back to Spooky Empire for a little while, then went over to the Fort Wilderness Campground to see my friend and staffer Susanne, who was just getting into town with her family. We have never really browsed through the campgrounds at Disney before, so it was nice to get a little familiar with it. Usually we only go to Trails End and that’s about it. After we talked for a few, we took the boat over to the new outdoor food/drink spot, Geyser Point at the Wilderness Lodge. The food was decent, the drinks were even better. It’s so nice having friends in town. Nice for my boys too because Susanne’s son ads another kid to the mix. We had fun! On Sunday we headed over to the Magic Kingdom to meet up with some Main Streeters, but didn’t stay long. It was a school night so, real life creeps in even when we have visiting to do. It’s about balance I suppose. But the end of the school year is approaching, and we’re all looking forward to that!
Monday after school, we were invited to go back to Ft. Wilderness and have dinner with Susanne and her family at their camper. I thought it was just going to be a visit, but she had other plans. Being that I haven’t seen Susanne since my book came out, she turned it into a book celebration. When we got there, she gave me a Tangled themed pastry she had gotten earlier in the day, had Tangled music playing (and NKOTB, my other favorite), brought presents and had champagne to toast. How nice is that? The book has been out for roughly 6 weeks, and we really haven’t had any major celebrating, no party per say, just a bbq at home. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. I was thankful for what they did for us. Afterwards the kids had a silly string fight and it was time to head for home. Again, school night, but it was a good time.
So, we’ve been finding time to do some visiting in between working. I’m always working, I seriously can’t help myself. Speaking of work, I launched another website last week, Princess in the City under micheleatwood.com. No I’m not crazy, I promise! I’ve been wanting to find another outlet to write about things other than Disney, and this to me may be the spot. It’s only been less than a week, but so far it’s doing good and I’m enjoying it. Even though I never thought I’d end up being a writer, I’m starting to embrace it finally. It is what it is, it’s what I love to do. I’m hoping that I can reach out to others with the new site, maybe give people something to relate to, and have fun as well. You can sign up for my new email list at https://www.micheleatwood.com! Oh, and follow on Facebook too at https://www.facebook.com/michelematwood/. I appreciate the support!
We took a large batch of autographed copies of my book to the post office yesterday to mail out. It was pretty surreal, signing the books, it’s still so hard to wrap my head around. I wrote a book, and people want to have it, and want me to sign it. Soooo crazy, but a good crazy. Like my life I guess. The rest of this week will be busy, of course. We have to get the house ready for house guests….. my parents will be here on Sunday, and I’m looking forward to their visit! They aren’t staying but a few days, so I want to make the most of their short trip. Whenever we have family in town, the visits go so fast, that’s the bad part. We’ll do our best to show them a good time, and I know I’ll have a lot to report when we talk next week. Thank you as always for following along on all my ramblings and adventures, I appreciate that more than you know! Until next time….. sending you lots of hugs, blessings and pixie dust! See ya real soon! ~M
