Thirty years ago today the first brick and mortar Disney Store opened in the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, California. Today there are Disney Stores located all over the world in malls and commercial areas in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland,Australia, China and Japan just to name a few countries. In 1996 the Disney Store went live online on November 19, 1996 when they launched The Disney Store Online.
The Disney Store has been preparing for today’s special event since late January by releasing three limited edition pins every week. Disney fans with a nearby store have been able to attend special parties every Saturday at 3pm, while fans without a local store have been able to purchase special 30th Anniversary items online. Disney Store fans have been also been able to purchase special Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and Disney shirts, bags, vinyls, water bottles and other 30th Anniversary items since late February in stores and online.
Today in honor of the official 30th Anniversary, the Disney Store has released a special limited edition set of Tsum Tsums in the Disney Store’s original Cast Member Costume, a 30th Anniversary Snowglobe and special Limited Edition Sketchbook Ornament sets!
The Mickey Mouse and Friends Disney Store 30th Anniversary Mini ”Tsum Tsum” set includes Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, and Goofy with embroidered features. The Tsum Tsums come in the original Disney Store cast member costume, and are packaged in a special Disney Store brick design presentation box with a ribbon carry handle. The Disney Store 30th Anniversary Snowglobe has glitter and metallic paint accents. Characters on this limited edition item include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip ‘n Dale, Snow White, Jiminy Cricket, Winnie the Pooh, Cheshire Cat, Simba, Stitch, Rapunzel, Anna, Elsa, Baymax, and Tinker Bell and Disney Store 30th Anniversary logo on the base. Each set has eight fully sculptured figural ornaments which includes Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell (with glittering translucent wings), Snow White, Jiminy Cricket, Winnie the Pooh, Cheshire Cat, Chip, and Dale.
