TMSM’s Adventures in Florida Living ~ Back in the Swing of Things

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for our weekly chat! Let’s go!

I see that most of the country has had quite a cold and snowy week! It’s been cold (er) here in Florida too, but not nearly like what the rest of you have had to deal with. I’m not sure why, but it seems that no one wants to hear about it when it’s cold in Florida….. if you don’t live here. It’s not the same kind of cold, and we don’t get snow, so I guess it doesn’t count. Tell that to true Floridians though, they think 50 degrees is life altering. I’m not even kidding. We had temps in the low 40’s overnight, and it was all over the news. I’m glad I didn’t finish putting away my winter clothes from my Michigan trip, because it was indeed chilly. Just not Michigan chilly! But that’s over now…. we’re warming up. Floridians everywhere are happy!

Let’s see…. what’s going on in the Atwood household? Well, getting back into the swing of things, after having a nice long winter break. We’ve been busy playing catch up, of course, and getting back to our usual routines. The weather was rainy and cold (yes, Florida cold) last Saturday, and that was the day I wanted to go to the Magic Kingdom. Sadly, we didn’t go. So, it’s been about 4 weeks since I’ve been to my favorite place, and I’m missing it. Granted, I do know that we’re lucky enough to live close by, and being passholders we can go more often. It just seems like there’s not been time for Disney fun in quite awhile. We did go to Disney Springs on Sunday for lunch though, just because I needed a fix somehow. It was still cold, but the sun was out so it helped. The outdoor restaurants had their big heaters going to help keep guests warm, which always amuses me being from the North. Every time we go to Disney after a short break, I always notice new merchandise. That’s not a good thing, being that we’re still broke from Christmas and I always see things that I want. The 2017 merchandise is awesome, and I got to really browse what they have to offer. Just really cute stuff. They were still playing Christmas music at Disney Springs, and still had the decorations and Christmas trees up, which was a little odd, but I’m hearing that Disney is getting rid of the Christmas flair this week. I guess it’s time, even though it really was pretty.

On the business side of things, we have been busy making new items for our Etsy shop, TMSM Emporium. It’s a good way to keep sharing the Disney love and help keep our household running as well. We also launched a new classified section on the site, TMSM Marketplace, where people can advertise their businesses for a low cost. Being small business owners ourselves, we know how expensive it can be to keep things rolling, let alone to advertise and spread the word about your products, so this can help people. I think some don’t understand how hard it is to run and maintain small businesses, like ours for example. It’s expensive, and time consuming. I have a whole new understanding and appreciation for people who venture out and do their own thing. It’s not easy, that’s for sure. So just know, every time you tell friends about TMSM, share our info, buy something from our store, etc…. you are helping our site to stay afloat, and we thank you for that. I have more that I’m working on, that I promise to tell you about soon! It’s coming!

Well, that’s it for this weeks update. I’m hoping to have more Disney fun to share with you by next Wednesday, as I’m really needed a Disney fix pretty badly. We have friends coming to town this weekend, so I’m hopeful I’ll get some Disney time in. As always, thank you all so much for keeping up with me and my crazy life each week… and for reading my ramblings. It’s appreciated more than I can ever say. Until next time, sending you lots of hugs, blessings and pixie dust. See ya real soon! ~M
