Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! It’s time for our weekly check in! Things have been up and down here, but it’s all been good! Lets jump right in and catch up!
The last time we talked, I was telling you about the busy week we had. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party had started up, which we went to, then we had friends in town. We also went to the DVC event at Animal Kingdom, so we were feeling a bit tired, but it was all a great time. Last Friday, we were offered a little down time, and we jumped on it. One of our new advertisers, the Sheraton Vistana Resort, had us out for Friday and Saturday. This lovely resort is only about 15 minutes from home, and about a 3 minute drive to Disney Springs, so it’s very convenient. I’m so used to being in work mode, that sometimes I don’t know how to shut that off a bit, but I was going to try. I did have to work a little though…. of course.
When we got to our room, they had a little gift bag waiting for us, with a bottle of wine for us and cookies and candy for the boys. It was so thoughtful. We checked out the room, had a bite to eat, then took the kids to the pool for a nighttime swim. Our swim time was cut a little short, because Aidan was having some asthma issues so we went back to relax in the room. I was eager to get out the next day though, because we wanted to explore the resort so we could do a nice write up so our readers could hear what it’s all about.
The next morning, Aidan was much better, but my husband wasn’t feeling well. I knew I had to go take pictures and explore, so the boys and I left him in the room to rest and we headed out. The three of us ended up at one of the pools across from the room, and pretty much stayed there for a couple of hours. I got the photos I wanted, so the work part was done for now. I was sitting on one of the lounge chairs, and I could feel eyes on me from the pool. I looked up, and both boys were just staring at me… Hmm… didn’t know if someone was in trouble, hurt or what. Do you know what they wanted? They wanted me to come in the pool and play with them. So, I put my phone and camera away, and decided to go off the grid and just be with them. We had SUCH a good time. We swam together, went in the sprinklers in the pool, sat under the waterfall, and just enjoyed ourselves. The “fun team” at the pool runs games for the kids, and Aidan won a ball, so we played catch for a bit too. I needed that. They needed that too.
A few hours went by, and Scott finally came down to the pool to join us. We walked the kids over to a different pool that had a water slide, and stayed over there a bit longer. The afternoon went by so fast…. and I didn’t check my phone. I figured it was Saturday, and work can live without me for a bit… and everything was indeed fine. We went back to the room to get cleaned up, then headed over to their tiki bar for dinner. The food was good, and again, I still wasn’t working. Yay me! They were having a karaoke night on the patio, and the boys wanted to do it. I was shocked because that’s SO not like them, to be brave like that. I guess they were really having a good time too! They got up there and sang, and I was so proud of them! Once karaoke time was over, we went to the game room for a bit before heading back for the night. Well, I did grab my phone for a few minutes, because my best friends from Michigan were face timing me, and I had to answer because I miss them. They got to talk to the boys also, and see us too, so that was an extra bonus. Gotta love modern technology!
Once our wonderful weekend was over, it was time to get back to work. Time to be back on the grid so to speak. I had writing to do plus other TMSM things to catch up on. I know it sounds weird, but I’m a ridiculous work-aholic. I don’t know how to shut my mind off, or stop reporting on things because of where we live. It never stops. But sometimes, it NEEDS to stop. I have to force myself to stop and give myself a break. I need to stop and spend quality family time and not worry about work. This past weekend showed me that it’s possible, and I’m going to try to make an effort to not worry about work 24/7 the way I do. Like I always say, I’m a work in progress, but I do try.
So, downtime was over, and duty calls. This morning, we had to be at Epcot after taking the kids to school, because the Food and Wine Festival was kicking off. I can work a lot easier when it’s just Scott and I, we can get pictures and video and not have to worry about the kiddos. In about a 4 hour time span, we got to see all the merchandise, food booths, and hit the festival center before leaving. Not bad. The festival has so much to offer, and we had a lot of ground to cover before it was pick up time at school. I have a ton of pics on our Instagram and Snapchat if you’d like to see more from this morning! If you miss anything, don’t worry, we’ll be going back again throughout the duration of the festival! It was a successful work day for sure!
Well….. that’s it for this week. Whew, I’m back to being tired! It’s a good tired though. I had planned to at least hit Disney Springs this weekend since we were staying so close by, but we didn’t. And that’s ok. We so needed that time away, even if we were close to home. It’s so funny, because since we’ve moved down here, I continue to learn more about myself. Things that I didn’t even realize, things that are eye opening and make me see life a little differently. There are more good things coming, and I can’t wait to be able to share it all with you. The fact that you care enough to keep up with me each and every week, is amazing, and I’m grateful. Until next time…. sending you lots of love, blessings and pixie dust! See ya real soon~ ~M
