Hurricane Season runs from June 1 to November 30 of every year and is the period  when tropical storms and hurricanes usually form in the Atlantic Ocean. What many don’t realize is hurricanes and tropical storms can form at any time of the year, not just during hurricane season, as shown this year by Hurricane Alex this year’s first named storm which formed as a tropical events on /7 and became a hurricane on 1/14 and Tropical Storm Bonnie which formed on 5/24. To keep an eye on potential hurricane weather visit NOAA’s hurricane tracker site.
Per Disney if a storm warning has been issued the following can be done if you haven’t checked into your resort yet:
“If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area—or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may call in advance to reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Magic Your Way vacation package and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. This policy also applies to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort or Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in the event a hurricane warning is issued for those destinations.” Information on Disney’s Hurricane Policies can be found on their website.
If you are at Disney during a hurricane warning your resort will tell you what to expect and what accommodations will be made.
