Not too long ago, my family and I were visiting the Magic Kingdom, doing a little research and taking photos for the site. After we met talking Mickey at the front of the park, it started to rain. Not just rain, but a total downpour. The rain was coming down in buckets, and people started running for cover. We ran across the way into the Emporium to try to stay dry. Apparently everyone else in the area had the same idea because it was really crowded in there. We remembered that we had our ponchos with us, and decided to put them on and keep moving forward, a little rain wasn’t going to ruin the day. We walked out the back end of the Emporium and stood under the covered area. The boys were pouting at the thought of trekking through the streets of the Magic Kingdom in the rain. However…..
If you look behind the pouty misery in the above picture, you’ll see an empty street. I started looking around and the area in front of the Castle was bare, only a few people were out there. Truthfully, it was such a pretty sight to see. The rain was coming down, but the sky was still bright. Instead of feeling gloomy about the situation, I decided to head out and take pictures while I could. The Magic Kingdom really IS pretty in the rain. I got a photo of the Partners statue and the small one of Minnie (see above) and they came out so nice. After taking some pictures, we walked over to the Hall of Presidents, and by the time the show was over, the rain was gone. The streets were crowded again, people were out and about walking through the puddles. It didn’t matter to me either way, because it’s all good no matter what the weather is.
So when you hear someone say “A rainy day at Disney is better than a sunny day anyplace else,” it’s really a true statement. The next time you’re at a Disney Park and the rain hits, brave the weather and go out and enjoy it. Disney is beautiful and magical always…. even in the rain. ~M
