Happy Wednesday my Main Street Ohana! I hope you’re all doing well this evening and are ready to catch up for the week. Things have been pretty quiet here, but we did have a few sweet moments…. lets chat!

So as I mentioned last week, I’ve been a pinch under the weather, so we’ve been home a lot. However, we were invited on Friday to check out the new Sprinkles cupcakes at Disney Springs, they were having a media preview! Desserts? Sure, I’ll go! I was so looking forward to seeing the new area at Disney Springs. Seeing construction walls there for two years was getting old, and I was excited to see the walls come down. The Town Center area is beautiful truly. Disney did a great job. And Sprinkles? My goodness! I’ve had a lot of cupcakes in my time, but honestly, these were the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. Yes, better than Disney cupcakes at the Parks in my opinion. I had the Sprinkles Sundae, with a chocolate cupcake and vanilla bean ice cream. So darn good! I can’t wait to go back for more! Going to events like this have really been a lesson in self discovery of sorts… let me explain.

Two years ago before we actually moved to Florida, I had heard from friends who lived here that the Disney “blogger” community down here was cut throat and hard to cope with, which scared me. That sure set the tone. Low and behold, within a few months of Florida living, I learned that the warnings were correct, and it’s not easy to do this job in such a competitive environment. Where I come from, we give people the benefit of the doubt, and try to treat others how we would want to be treated. Be kind, extend yourself, trust until people give you a reason not to. Well, that’s not how this works, and soon enough I became scared and intimidated to go to media events. I hated how people looked at me. How others from competing sites were not so nice, and I didn’t want to go anymore. Yes, I tell you my true feelings on these blogs, so I’m bearing my soul. I’m not afraid to say it. So, how do you get over your fear? Do you let people win and just quit? OH HECK NO! As hard as it was, I kept pushing and kept going. Fear is a funny thing, but you really learn about yourself. Do you want to know what else I learned? Sometimes when people are mean to you and bully you, it’s not YOU who has the problem, it’s THEM. This can happen in anyone’s day to day life. Kids at school, co-workers, family members or friends who give you a hard time, etc. It happens to all of us. The best thing anyone can do is to hold your head up high, and know that you are worth something and you should never fear what someone else is going to do or say. Now, when I get invited to things, I go with my head held high. Why? Because I worked hard for this, and I have a whole group of Main Streeters who count on me to lead with integrity and dignity. Not to mention God has my back, so I can’t lose. As I was sitting there getting video of the new Sprinkes bakery, eating my delicious cupcake, I had a moment of clarity where I felt proud. A lot can change in two years, and that cupcake sure was good. Life is short, don’t skip dessert… and don’t ever let anyone else dull your sparkle! You’re awesome no matter what!

Wow, I guess I went off track a little. Sometimes when things are going on during the week, I think to myself, “I’ll have to talk about this on Wednesday.” Some thoughts are worth sharing, especially if it can help make someone else feel better about themselves. I’m a work in progress, but I hope by being honest about my life, it can make you relate a little bit. After all, isn’t that what family is for? We build each other up! Speaking of, TMSM’s travel sponsor Donna was in town this week, and I met her for a bit at Earl of Sandwich yesterday. We have worked with a lot of businesses over the past 6 years, and sometimes it’s hard to find good people. Right now we have Donna’s agency, Dreams by Design Travel, and I’m really happy with having them on board. They’re great to our readers, and I can’t ask for more than that. Our scooter sponsors are amazing too, K&M Rentals. Another wonderful fit for our site and our readers. As long as our site members are taken care of, I’m happy. It’s about so much more than myself or our staff, it’s about all of us, you guys included. When we do what we do on a daily basis, or send our readers to our sponsors for help, it’s always with the best of intentions! TMSM has taken on a life of it’s own, and if you guys are happy with us, then my heart is full. So thank you for that….

Well, that’s it this week. I know I’m all over the board tonight and I apologize for that. You know how I am though, what you see is what you get. We’re all friends here, and sometimes our friends just have a lot on their mind and need an ear to bend. The past few weeks have been stressful for me for a few reasons, but at the end of the day, I’m blessed to have you all. You are never taken for granted and I’m grateful. Until next week, sending you all hugs, blessings and pixie dust! Thanks for reading! See ya real soon! ~M

In case you missed it, here’s footage of the Disney Springs expansion and Sprinkles Cupcakes!
