Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! It’s time for our weekly check in, and things sure have been busy. As I said previously, my family is here, visiting us from Michigan. It’s been wonderful, but my gosh, time has flown!
Last Thursday afternoon, my parents flew into town. It was so nice to see them, and I was determined to make the most of their visit and show them a great time. One thing my dad had been looking forward to, was having the holiday turkey sandwich from Earl of Sandwich at Disney Springs, so that’s exactly where we went for dinner. We all had a great dinner, but my parents were tired so we didn’t stay long. I had more planned for them the next day!
Friday, we let the parents settle in, and later in the day we took them to Hollywood Studios. I was worried about the weather, as it was looking pretty grim, but we headed out and were hopeful. It’s funny, because people were surprised to hear that my mom and dad had never been to Hollywood Studios, but it’s true. They have visited the other three parks at WDW, but not the Studios. Well, we fixed that problem, and we had a great night there. I think we squeezed a ton into the 5 hours we were there. We did the Great Movie Ride, Frozen Sing A Long, Star Tours, Tower of Terror, took my dad on Rock N Rollercoaster, and closed out the night watching the fireworks. They both had a fantastic time, and honestly, it did my heart good to see them have so much fun. I did my best to make sure they had fun, and it went really well!
Saturday, my brother and sister in law were coming to Orlando to join the rest of the family and our fun visit, so we waited for them to get here most of the day. Once they arrived, we all went to Universal CityWalk, and had dinner at Margaritaville. Dinner was good as always, and it was so nice to have everyone here, all together. After dinner, we walked around, browsed through the Hard Rock Cafe, and just really had a great evening. Lots of fun!
Sunday, we had a family pool day, just relaxing and laying low. My dad went and got food to bbq for dinner, and we closed out the night watching the Detroit Red Wings game on tv. Yes, we still keep up with home town activities even in Florida… and the Wings won too. So what did we do the rest of the week? Well, we haven’t done it yet… As I write this weeks blog, it’s only Sunday night. Why am I stopping here? Well, simply because time is going too fast with my family and I want to make the most of the time I have left with them here. Tonight after dinner, I actually pretended and thought in my head, this is what it would be like if they all lived here, and it made me a little sad. We used to do family dinners on Sunday all the time back home, and it’s something that I guess I used to take for granted. My oh my how my perspective has changed! I do wish they lived here, but since that’s not the case, I’m going to be sure to show them a good time in Orlando while I can.
Tuesday is my mom’s birthday and we’re doing a Magic Kingdom day, which will actually be over by the time you read this. My brother wants to do a water park too, but we’ll see how things go. Thursday morning, my family will get on a plane and head back to Michigan without me, and I will miss them so much. One thing I’ve learned by moving across the country from the only home I’ve known, is that cherishing the people we love most is so important. Having my parents, brother, and brand new sister here has been a blessing, and I’m very grateful for that. Next week, I will finish telling you about the rest of our visit, so be sure to check back for more. Until then, as always, sending you all love, hugs and pixie dust! See ya real soon! ~M
