Today In Disney History ~ March 23rd
The original Herbie Day in 1969 was to celebrate the release of“The Love Bug” movie. The cars were judged in categories like “psychedelic, toylike, comical and best personality” the winners Morton and Barbara Allen were given a brand new 1960 Volkswagen Beetle by the movie’s stars Dean Jones and Michele Lee. On July 11, 1974 the event was held again in honor of “Herbie Rides Again”.
