Today In Disney History ~ February 25th
Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex opened in 1997. In 2010 it was rebranded and renamed the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on February 26–28, 2010. As a part of the rebranding the “ESPN the Weekend” event was held at Hollywood Studios. Sponsored by Dick’s Sporting Goods the event allowed guests to explore the new ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and see how shows like Baseball Tonight, NFL Live, and ESPN First Take were taped. There were also celebrity meet and greets, a parade, and game shows. Special guests included Curt Schilling, Kyle Orton, Frank Thomas, Misty May Treanor, Scottie Pippen, and Shawn Johnson.
