Hey Everyone! It’s time for our weekly check in! I hope you all had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving and long holiday weekend. We sure did! My family and I got to do something we’ve never done before…. see mountains! Let’s catch up, shall we?
As you know, since moving to Florida from our lifelong home in Michigan, there are times that it’s not easy. Holidays are those harder times for sure. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, it’s beautiful down here, but sometimes it sure is lonely. We don’t have many people that we know well, so most times we are on our own. This very fact makes my parents worry, and I can understand that. Last year for Thanksgiving we made a small dinner, just the 4 of us, and made the best of it. I only cried once, which is good. This year however, our friend Holly was kind enough to have us join her family for Thanksgiving in North Carolina. We have never actually stayed anyplace where there are mountains, we’ve only drove by on the freeway on our way home. So, for us, this was an adventure, we got to do something new, plus not be alone for the holiday weekend, it was a win/win situation! Holly and her family are wonderful, and they really made us feel at home. She also has an adorable group of pets who we kind of grew attached too also. She’s got this pug that I wanted to take home, Charlie! I have to say I am pretty fond of that fat little guy! We had a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner, did some sight seeing the following day, went gem mining, saw a gorgeous waterfall, and drove to the top of a mountain range. It was more than I ever imagined, the kids loved it too! We are truly blessed to have friends who have become family to us, and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts for being so good to us.
So, now we’re back in Florida. I can’t believe it’s already December, and we’ll be getting ready for Christmas soon. We’ve been so busy, with getting the Christmas issue of our magazine done, plus our daily site work. There’s all kinds of Christmas fun going on at Disney, and I want to make time to get over there. I haven’t seen the Christmas decorations at Epcot yet, plus I want to get more time in with the Osborne Lights since they’ll be gone soon. We’ve just been swamped with work and are having a harder time finding down time. As much as I love Halloween at Disney, I really do enjoy the Christmas lights and decorations as well. There’s just something about seeing larger than life sized Christmas trees, and hearing Christmas music in the parks. It’s pretty magical. Before leaving for North Carolina, we went to see more Christmas decor at the resorts, including the Ft. Wilderness Campground. So much to see, so little time. It sure is beautiful though!
Well, that’s it for this weeks update. I do want to mention, however, that December 1st was the anniversary of our re-launch of TMSM. Some know the history, some don’t, but there was a time that we brought the site down and did a complete rebuild, and we weren’t sure if we were going to bring TMSM back at all. If it wasn’t for our amazing readers, we might not be here today. So, here we are, not only did we bring the site back, but now we have a huge Disney Ohana, a magazine, and now we do meet ups with our Main Streeters. That in itself is overwhelming to me, and I can’t thank you all enough for sticking by us over the years. We have faced our share of obstacles, including people who didn’t want us to succeed, but we did it, and it’s because of all of you. God bless you guys for always being our cheering section and for pushing us to want to do better and better. Until next week, sending you love, blessings, and pixie dust…. See ya real soon! ~M
