It’s time for our weekly Florida Living update, and this week we have to talk about the good things, along with some bad, so lets get started. Last week, we were able to attend the taping for Disney’s Christmas Parade that will air on ABC Christmas day. The amount of effort and work that goes into creating a magical event for the cameras is really something to see. There’s also a lot of “hurry up and wait” that goes along with the taping, so parade spectators did a quite a bit of standing around waiting for the crew and such. We got to see some performers tape their segments, like Jason Derulo, Charlie Puth and Ariana Grande, which was pretty cool. Also, on Friday, we got to see Santa and some Main Street “snow” as well. I’m looking forward to watching the parade on December 25th! Maybe we’ll be on tv again this year? We shall see! One great part of the parade taping, is that the Festival of Fantasy parade was done in the evening instead of 3:00, so it was fun to see the parade with the Main Street lights on! The kids enjoyed it as well!
So, now lets talk about last Friday night. We were exhausted from going to the parade taping all week, so we were just going to lay low and go have dinner and maybe run to the store to get a few things. As we were getting ready to head out, the news broke on the tv about the horrible attacks that were going on in Paris. Our evening came to a screeching halt, and watching the terror unfold in France was heartbreaking and scary. The kids walked in to see what was going on, and immediately they became scared. They didn’t want to leave the house, didn’t even want to go have dinner, and they asked about Disney. Are we safe here? Could something like that happen here? I can’t say that I blame them. We do live in a heavy tourist area, and the thought crossed my mind too. All we could do is watch and pray for those poor people and all they were going through. What a scary world we live in. It’s amazing to me how in the blink of an eye, things can change, and the problems we have seem a bit more trivial compared to what others are dealing with. Security has been tighter at Disney this week, and while that’s a good thing, it’s also a bit unsettling that we even have to worry like that. I’m going to write more about that one tomorrow, as the thoughts I have run much deeper than our usual Wednesday night blog! Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of France, and other countries as well who are faced with such atrocities.
Well, that’s it for this weeks Florida update. As always, I thank you for keeping up with us every Wednesday night. Sending each of you extra hugs, blessings and pixie dust this week, especially to our Main Streeters across the pond! Please stay safe, and know you are cared about! Till next week, see ya real soon! ~M
