On Friday, Colortopia presented by Glidden officially opened at Innoventions East in Epcot. When I stopped by to check out the new exhibit, I was tickled pink by the three immersive zones that truly showed me the power of color.
The first experience takes place in the “Power of Color Theater.” This specially designed area uses vibrant hues along with harmonious sounds and narration to explore the psychology of color. For example, red can make me feel several emotions at once like anger or love.
The second zone called the “The Color Lab” features two interactive stations. The first, Color Mix ‘n Match, allowed my 5-year-old son and me to mix red, green and blue to create new colors. The second station, Spinning Spectrums, uses revolving multi-colored disks to test color perception. As the disks spun faster, my son and I tried to guess the actual color of the disks. While it was a gray area on whether or not we were correct, we had fun guessing together.
My favorite experience is in the third zone, “Color Our World,” which features color shadows and a magic paintbrush. With the magic paintbrush, I was able to choose the color palette I wanted to create a spectacular scene on digital screen. Depending on the color, the scene and storyline changed.
The fun didn’t stop there. While walking around World Showcase I was also able to play with the expansive color palettes with the Colortopia mobile app. I collected colors from each pavilion and added them to my personal color palette to take home. The app also features exciting games to test your memory and understanding of color. Visit experiencecolortopia.com, to learn more about the exhibit and the app. It’s a blue ribbon experiences!
