Happy Wednesday! I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable Halloween! We did, it was just different this year. This weeks Florida Living blog isn’t about Florida for a change, it’s about going home for a wedding on Halloween! This past week was a crazy busy one. Not only did we have to get TMSMonthly ready for it’s November 1st release, we also had to get ready to go back to Michigan for my brother’s wedding. It was hard to get everything done, but we did it! Here’s how things went!
I have known for months that we were flying home this trip, as it was for a shorter visit. I have a deeply run fear when it comes to flying, so although I was looking forward to being with family, I wasn’t excited about the plane ride there. We got to the airport early enough to grab breakfast, then sat at the terminal to wait…. which felt like forever. Fear can get the best of any one of us, but for me, it had a huge hold. My boys were new to flying, so I had to hide the fear a bit, because I didn’t want to scare them. Once we were up in the air, we watched Jurassic World on the laptop, I had some wine, and before we knew it, we were back home in Michigan. It was COLD there, in the 40’s, but we didn’t mind too much once my parents picked us up. I was so glad to be home!
Once we got home from the airport, it was almost time for the rehearsal dinner for my brother and soon to be sister in law. My dad was officiating the ceremony, so everyone had details to iron out. The rehearsal went great and everyone was getting excited for the wedding. The actual day of the wedding was a full day event. All the girls had a salon day, to get hair and make up done. The guys had it easier, as they had a more relaxing day just waiting for the ceremony. My boys needed help with their dress clothes, as we’re used to dressing in our Disney best, like Star Wars shirts and shorts! Once we were all fancied up, it was time to head to the hall. The ceremony went beautifully, my Dad was worried that he’d be nervous but he did a great job on the service, and everyone was very happy with how it played out. Yes, I cried, as that’s my baby brother getting married, but he sure got himself a wonderful girl! Not to mention, I now have the sister that I always wanted too!
Once we had the family and bridal party photos done, it was party time. The hall was beautifully decorated with Halloween flare, but in a tasteful way. My mom’s neighbor did the decorations and everyone was blown away at how gorgeous it all looked. They even had a candy table for those missing out on trick or treating. Dinner was great, and although I was seated at the head table, I still was close enough to keep an eye on the kiddos! After dinner, it was time to visit with family and have fun. Being able to see my ENTIRE family in one spot was just fantastic. Being that we don’t live in Michigan anymore, we don’t get to see everyone as often as we like to, so being able to see family like that was much needed. We all had a great time!
The day after the wedding, we just had a family day and got out to enjoy the Fall weather a little. My brother and new sister in law came over for a few, and I was able to give them their present. Of COURSE I had to add some Disney in there, with Jack and Sally pins and such. Before we knew it, it was Monday and time to head back to Florida. The weekend went by SO fast, and I wasn’t ready to leave yet. The good news is, that Christmas is just around the corner and we’ll be back to Michigan next month. It’s hard living far away from the people you love, but it does make you appreciate the time you have with them.
Now that we’re back in sunny Florida, it’s time to get back to work and reporting. We’re going to get coverage of the Osborne Lights this week, plus the Christmas decorations at the Magic Kingdom, so I’m looking forward to that. Stay tuned! Thanks as always for keeping up with our weekly adventures, it’s appreciated! I’d like to say congratulations again to my brother Greg and his new wife Amee, we love you both so much! Thank you for including us in your special day! Until next week everyone…. see ya real soon! ~M
