Today, the New York Comic Con kicked off with lots of big news coming out. Marvel made some big announcements in regards to the Cinematic Universe and Phase 3 that is set to begin on May 6th, 2016 with the release of Captain America: Civil War.
According to what ComicBookResources.com
With the success of this past summer’s hit, Ant-Man, the 2nd film Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to be released on July 6, 2018. Also, we have 3 unnamed projects set for May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020 and November 6, 2020.
The previous slate for Phase 3 was as follows:
- Captain America: Civil War – May 6, 2016
- Doctor Strange – November 4, 2016
- Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017
- Spider-Man – July 28, 2017
- Thor: Ragnarok – November 3, 2017
- Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 – May 4, 2018
- Black Panther – July 6, 2018
- Captain Marvel – November 2, 2018
- Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 – May 3, 2019
- The Inhumans – July 12, 2019
Even this was a changed from the first schedule was announced, Spider-Man was not included in the original slate. Negotiations were still going on for that film, but once it was announced Spider-Man was being added to the Universe the schedule was updated to the one above.
After today’s announcements, the schedule has been shifted again, here is the current schedule of Phase 3:
- Captain America: Civil War – May 6, 2016
- Doctor Strange – November 4, 2016
- Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017
- Spider-Man – July 28, 2017
- Thor: Ragnarok – November 3, 2017
- Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 – May 4, 2018
Black PantherAnt-Man and the Wasp – July 6, 2018Captain MarvelBlack Panther – November 2, 2018- Captain Marvel – March 8, 2019
- Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 – May 3, 2019
- The Inhumans – July 12, 2019
- Untitled Project #1 – May 1, 2020
- Untitled Project #2 – July 10, 2020
- Untitled Project #3 – November 6, 2020
Now the rumors can start about the Untitled Projects and what films we will get. Personally I hope somewhere we do get a Hulk film. It’s also going to be interesting to see what will be left of the Universe after Infinity Wars Part 2 and what is of the Avengers. I know between now and then the team is going to be shook up as we know it, but i’m still excited about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We are going to be introduced to many characters that have films for Phase 3 in Civil War. I’m very happy to see Ant-Man will get a second installment and if you stayed for the after credit scenes, we know that Wasp will be Dr. Hank Pym’s daughter, Hope.
As more news comes out, I will be sure to pass it along.
