As most of you know, I’ve been really busy since June. We had to put together our first magazine, which took more time than I ever anticipated. We had a TMSM Mini Meet up at the Studios too. Once July hit, we left town and headed to Michigan to spend time with family up there and were gone most of the month. This summer has flown by, and I’m already dreading the kids going back to school. There hasn’t been enough time, and what might come as a huge shocker, is that we haven’t had time to go to Disney…. and I miss it.
Last summer we were new in town, and everyday felt like a potential vacation day. We got our annual passes, and hit the parks as much as possible. Fast forward a year later, and our AP’s aren’t getting used nearly as much. Life gets in the way, things come up. When we rolled back into town finally last week, we had a ton of things to catch up on. You know how it is, coming back home after being away, all that not so fun stuff is there to do…. unpacking, laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, yard work…. ugh. Thursday night, I pulled an Elsa and said “Enough!” and we went to the Studios to see the Frozen Fireworks. Sure, we still had stuff to do, but my gosh, it had been over a month since we had ANY Disney fix, and for a local, that’s a long time. It was great to be back, even for just a couple of hours, and again, I realized how much I MISSED Disney.
Unfortunately, a couple hours at Frozen Fun didn’t cure my heartache for my happy place. I think the only thing to fill that void will be the Magic Kingdom. I love Disney and all it offers, but to me, the MK is the icing on the Mickey cake. Now here we are, crunch time again, end of the month and the August edition of The Main Street Monthly needs to get completed. Will I have time for Disney, or wait till after the first of the month? I’m praying I can fit in a trip to the MK. Because……. yes, I miss it! I often wondered when we moved to Florida, if I would ever grow tired of the Parks or find them not as fun. Well, the answer is no, and that’s a good thing. It’s a little ridiculous that I haven’t been to the MK since June and my heart longs to see the Castle. I want to ride the Haunted Mansion, see Wishes, and maybe catch the Festival of Fantasy Parade. How did I ever do it, living 18 hours away and only visiting the Parks once a year if I was lucky? Funny how things change. Our perspective changes, but still, I don’t take things for granted, and I know we’re blessed to live so close to Disney property.
True Disney fans know what it’s like to miss Disney. People who haven’t been to a Disney Park may think we’re crazy, because they truly don’t get it. Disney Magic is REAL, and it’s missed when we don’t have it in our lives. Crazy? Maybe. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love that magic, I love how I feel when I see the Castle at the end of Main Street USA, I love seeing my kids have that joy in their eyes. When we don’t go, it’s missed. I’m sure you can relate. That’s what makes our TMSM Family so magical. We understand each other and what it’s like to have our Disney obsession. It’s all good! So, what about you? Does your heart hurt for Disney after so long too? Be sure to tell us about it, of course we understand!
