Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! As I told you last week, I’ve been out of Florida and back home in Michigan on vacation, though we’ll be stopping by and looking for things to do in Cheyenne as well. Finally, I’m back in the land of Mickey Mouse and Palm Trees, and my gosh, I’m tired. It’s been a great couple of weeks, and I’m glad to be home. Wait a second, which place is home? Michigan or Florida? Both? It’s hard to explain! We’ve been on quite an adventure! We drove across the country to Michigan, spent a day at Cedar Point in Ohio, hit Daytona Beach on the way back to our house here. I’m starting to see that home constitutes two places now, it’s quite a change.
During our time home in Michigan, we spent a lot of time with family and friends. It was time that I really needed, as I miss the heck out of those that we left behind when we moved south. It’s funny, because it seems that we all make more of our time together when we visit, a lot more than when we actually lived there. I think we start to take people for granted when they’re only a 10 minute drive away, as opposed to 18 hours in the car. So, I’d say the quality time is better now. I loved being in Michigan these past two weeks. The weather was mild, their flowers were in bloom, and I tried enjoy every minute as I knew the visit would go by fast. We got to be home for my Dad’s birthday, so I was glad about that. I know people say that they have a great family, but I’m telling you, I truly do. My parents are the most genuine and amazing people I know. I got to visit with my little brother, who’s not so little, and is getting married this Fall. My soon to be sister in law is a hoot! We got to visit my Aunts and Uncles, and importantly my Grandma, who is a feisty 87 years young. This is what it’s all about… family. Home. The people we love and are blessed to have.
The visit flew by, and before I knew it, we were saying “see ya real soon” to the family. I dread the goodbye part. I cry every time, and actually cry for a good bit while driving to get gas and breakfast before hitting I75. I wonder if someday it will get easier? Not sure. So, we headed home to Florida, our second home. As we drove south, I was eager to get back here, sleep in my own bed and get back to our routine. I started to realize, it’s ok to have two places that you call home, your heart can be happy and content in more than one place. We stopped by Daytona Beach before heading to the Orlando area, and it was the perfect ending to our little vacation. The beach is beautiful, and peaceful enough to take it all in, relax and regroup. All in all, these past few weeks are exactly what I needed to recharge myself.
So, now that our long road trip is over, it’s time to get back to Florida reality. There is a lot of work to be done. July has flown by, and it’s already time to put together the August edition of The Main Street Monthly. I have a lot to write, plus do the daily TMSM stuff, but I knew it would be crunch time once we got back to Florida. Did I mention that I’m missing Disney too? We’ve had no time to go in weeks, and I’m in need of a fix. That will be penciled in somewhere too! Well, that’s it for this week’s update. Next week, we’ll be back to all Florida, no Michigan! As always, thank you for following along on our adventures, it’s appreciated! Until next week, sending you hugs, blessings and pixie dust…. see ya real soon! ~M
