The Descendants movie is set to premiere on the Disney Channel on July 31st, 2015 at 8:00 PM. I honestly am excited to see this film. You may have never heard of the Descendants film, so let me give you a little background and information about this movie.
This live-action movie will explore the teenage lives of the children of some of Disney’s greatest villains as they attend prep school with the kids of Disney heroes and royals.
Just thinking about that made me think this could be really cool. Imagine the most loved and feared Disney Villains such as Maleficent and the Evil Queen, have children. How would they possibly interact with say Belle and Beasts or Aurora and Prince Phillips children. Would they hate them just because of their parents? Well there’s an even bigger twist to this, here is Disney’s official synopsis:
In the present day idyllic kingdom of Auradon, the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic “Beauty and the Beast”) is poised to take the throne. His first official proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, The Evil Queen, and Jafar, who have been imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, a forbidden island where all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters are placed upon their defeat.
These villainous descendants are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes. However, the evil teens face a dilemma: Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power by stealing the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand, or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?
The prequel to this film was the novel written by Melissa de la Cruz called “The Isle of the Lost” which was just released in May. If you haven’t read that book, I suggest you pick it up and read it before the film debuts. This will give you a better understanding of what happened before the time period the film starts.
