Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! It’s time for our weekly check in on what’s been happening down here in sunny Florida! It’s been sunny and HOT here in the land of Mickey Mouse and palm trees! I’ve been seeing photos from family and friends back home in Michigan, and the weather looks lovely there as well. Seeing this makes me a little homesick. Springtime in Michigan was always a favorite time for me. Cleaning up the yard, decorating for the season, going to buy flowers for the front of the house with my Mom….. sigh, I miss it all. It’s different down here. People don’t do things that way, being that there isn’t so much of a huge change in the seasons. Just more adjusting. However, seeing pics from home really has me looking forward to our next visit North, I’m really missing my family and friends! That being said….. lets talk about the here and now, and this weeks it’s been about Star Wars Weekends!
I’ll admit, on the grand scheme of things, I’m not a HUGE Star Wars fan. Sure, I’ve seen all the movies, but I don’t go overboard when it comes to the franchise. That being said….. my husband and older son ARE huge fans, so overall we were looking forward to checking out our first Star Wars Weekends. I had heard so much about Star Wars Weekends, we’ve reported on them for years, but it was time for us to get a firsthand account. Star Wars weekends are fun. It was even more fun for me when I got to see my family enjoying themselves. My older kiddo was really into it. He packed a light saber and autograph book and hit the scene, he had a blast! We got to meet some characters, but my favorite so far was Darth Maul. It’s not like any other Character meet we’ve ever done. He’s scary! My little guy hid behind me at first, it took him a few minutes to be brave enough to stand next to him. Pretty funny! There’s something about the villains, they’re intimidating and fun all at the same time.
The kids had a ball. Even the big kids! We had friends in town for the day on Saturday, Greg and Kyle, who are also huge Star Wars fans. I was so outnumbered that day, but I really had a great time! We saw shows, ate some good snacks, ran into a lot of different people, and closed the day out with DJ Lowbot and the Symphony in the Stars Fireworks. Oh, speaking of the end of the night, before the fireworks show, they showed pics from the day, and my Andrew was one of the photos chosen, he was so excited (top left in the pic below). Not a bad first Star Wars Weekend, not bad at all!
Another worthy mention from the past week, was the VIP Party we were invited to at Fun Spot Orlando, in honor of the all new Gator Spot attraction. We have been so busy these past few weeks, and this evening was a fun night that we so needed. The kids had a blast, we played games, rode rides, ate some treats….. AND…. the big event for us, was that some Fun Spot employees talked us into riding the Sky Coaster! What’s that you say? Well, it’s basically a free fall on a bungee cord, and I thought I was going to have a heart attack! The workers there are fabulous, and I’m really glad I took their advice and did it. We did a blog on that last night for Off TMSM. We have video too, be sure to check it out, it’s funny! (link below)
Well, that’s it for this weeks busy check in! We’re heading to the 24 Hour Party this weekend at the Magic Kingdom, so be sure to watch for details on that. As always, I thank you all so much for reading and following along with us! Until next week…. See ya real soon! ~M
